ARB evolved into a TDM mode which basically pushed out most CAS planes, don’t forget that.
Considering you can still bring and spawn planes in GRB, I don’t think it’s a smart idea to just outright ignore them as otherwise the situation from ARB might happen all over again.
WT as a whole is a massive mess that needs big overhaul to it’s modes and balancing systems.
That’s the thing.
By the looks of it SLM is already by far the best system we have, so buffing it even more doesn’t sound good when you look at it’s peers.
It is performing because cas main love to fly straight and die to it thinking dipping below and still flying in straight line will save them . Even a avg or god cas obliterate slm because half of time it even struggle to intercept agm which i can do better in ito
We already know 70 Km missiles are coming to 3 other nations, the Spyder could have been an equivalent if it had its EO Sight and Derby ER but gaijin has other plans for some reason.
It still has a critical bug that basically renders it useless if the enemy so much as fires a rocket, and it can be flared either way.
Even when that bug is fixed in time players will learn to either go in close and kill it or flare at the right times.
If you’re playing RUS it still gets destroyed easily by any Su with a Kh volley.
All systems are really good against people that just fly straight and headbutt a missile. It’s weird that only the SLM is being paired against those players.
Look, I know SLM has some bugs but it’s weird seeing people in here call that system to be trash, unplayable, etc. when it’s basically by far the best thing we have in the game.
It’s proven itself to be a capable system, unlike some others added in the same patch. I understand that stats on SS can be a bit misleading, but I highly doubt it’s that inaccurate.
It is the best but if you dont know what youre doing and why your missiles sometimes do nothing it can be considered “unplayable” for some.
This whole with SLM being the best by a somewhat large margin could have been avoided if gaijin added the analogue systems like CAMM and MICA VL, which would act pretty much the same as the SLM.
Instead they added the SLAMRAAM with C7 thats the same as C5 and SPYDER without Derby ER, the EldE98 should be the worst but is second after SLM, and the CS/SA5 is better with DL and should be about equal to Pantsir when its own DL bug gets fixed.
I understand some people just take their own experience as a gospel, but at least we now have the tools like SS via which anyone can look up their vehicle and how it performs over thousands and thousands of spawns.
Some early bugs like missiles not proxying and killing anything definitely played a role in people seeing SLM as an “unplayable” addition.
Gaijin obviously forgot to step up a notch when it comes to AAs from different countries, as the difference in stats is so big that it seems like SLM is on another level and other systems are already in need of some upgrades.
It having 2.19 K/D in June whereas other systems like CLAWS, CS/SA5 and EldE had 1.22, 1.16 and 1.77 respectively is a bit too much to just be a coincidence. Also, two of those mentioned vehicles belong to minor nations which tend to have better stats on their vehicles naturally.
also these two things are not really as related as you think.
imagine this scenario, su-30 or 34 gets in range, fires off all kh-38 one by one, gets shot down by SLM but the Kh-38 takes out the SLM.
this is an all too casual and usual scenario.
irl the SLM is easily able to intercept munitions.
uhh… you do know ARH missiles automatically acquire and reacquire the target if its receiving DL guidance right?
not to mention that if the target is lost, the ARH seeker itself starts to look for the target with its on radar.
something ive heard a bunch about related to these new missiles.
Considering the popularity of Kh-38 platforms I doubt you’d end up with easily more than a 2 K/D if that was a commonly repeated scenario. I also wonder why other systems that are supposed to be it’s direct counterparts don’t come even close to the SLM ?
SLM can intercept all types of munitions, I’ve seen it happening.
now add in the other, less capable CAS aircraft in the mix. they surely bump those numbers up.
simple maths. its used more. hence kills more. also the others are not direct counterparts in the sense of being equally capable. no other system really has (or should have) a 40km effective lethal range.
can, but it doesnt do it very well. which is the issue.
