you’re entitled to your incorrect opinion
I’m losing most Iris system to ground units. Its due to the maps and the huge size of the trucks. They’re hard to hide and very vulnerable. So it happenes that I get blapped too often from the ground. Sometimes even while leaving the spawn, its just too high to not get shot into the dish on some maps.
I’d ask whether its possible to spawn a defense unit for these purposes, like a Gepard as third vehicle type. This system is just not supposed to be in a frontline town or a frontline map. So some tweaks are neccessary.
Pantsir f.e. has these helldeath guns which work well against close range threats. Iris has absolutely nothing. It always hurts when you loose this complex without any option to do something.
I don’t die to ground units much personally, but I also don’t spawn the SLM on smaller maps. Some nations aren’t allowed to have decent air defense on all maps, that’s just the way it is on Russia #1 simulator
tbh it’s already a miracle that SLM was added with half of its IRL performance
It also doesnt help when you are smashing out missiles the whole map can see and yeah to anyone who has an aircraft in their line up it’s a priority target. Having 17 fire and forget missiles and that super handy Radar interface makes it insane and 2 of them can shut down any airspace and what they miss.
Germany does seem to often be paired with Russia so you have the Pantsir and Su-30 dream team.
IRIS-T is superior to Pantsir, If it wants to kill you it will you can’t escape it like you can the Pantsir. I have managed to defeat 4 (I think IRIS-T) missiles and they just keep launching on you. You can’t even skirt the battlefield to avoid them as they have fantastic range.
And if by some chance you are the only enemy aircraft up you are just unbelievably dead. Typhoons on British or Italian sides cannot even get close and you need to guide your missile so even if by some chance you fire all 16 wothout guidance they will miss so IRIS-T players ignore the missiles and focus on you ensuring your death.
We seem to play diffrent games, because I play just top-tier germany currently and from like 100 battles maybe in 15-20 Russia is in my team
Pantsir is more mobile and easier to hide. It’s also a single self contained unit.
It cannot abuse the spawn protection mechanic…Oh yes because the Radar vehicle doesnt fire the IRIS-T can have 15 seconds of spawn protection (personally it’s time to remove spawn protection)
Pantsir can only really guide 4 missiles…IRIS-T can dump all 16 if it wants to.
Pantsir gives a launch warning IRIS-T doesn’t until your MAWS is screaming and you are dead.
That is strange! Top tier couple of days ago played 15 games ish out of those more than half were Germany, Russia and France teams…Sweden seems to have fallen off the map as a played nation now.
Leaving UK, Japan, USA and Israel didnt see many Italian players either.
I will say this before the SLM was added you would always know you were facing Germany and Russian teams as you would flat out lose.
Press X to Cope, because even before the patch I played just Germany at High tier, and there is was around thr same, from 100 matches maybe in 15-20 I had russia on my side…
when i play US, the enemy has germany russia and sweden together 9 out of 10 games
when i play germany, the enemy US and russia together 9 out of 10 games
the matchmaker has additional logic that they haven’t revealed, my guess is that if you do too well, you get paired with trash against better players (and/or nations)
As someone who plays Britain exclusively I see Germany and Russia on the same team more than half as stated. Eitherway Germany without Russia is incredibly strong with Russia it is pretty much GG
Its your own fault if you use laser guided ornance. Its simply not feasible. You need fire and forget ordnance which can be quickly deployed. So you might gtfo the second after. EF2000 is simply not a good choice for CAS in GRB. Also its BR is far to high. Despite it lacks proper ordnance, its full +1 BR to the ground vehicle max.
Rather use something with Mavericks (I usually pick the F-4 or F-5 over EF2000 in GRB. Or the GDR Su-24 with TV guided KH’s). Thats what you need. If you start to fiddle around with target lasers, you’re wasting just spawn points. Its like bringing a knife to a gunfight. Choose the right tools.
I mean Typhoon doesnt have a single FnF weapon unless you are using Paveways in GPS mode only.
Tornado GR.1 has PGMS but it’s a Tornado and the Gripen can carry a whopping 4 AGM-65 with 2 self defence missiles.
But you raise an interesting point.
The most interesting point is to use jets/helis which won’t raise the BR ceiling. Top tier vehicles are max 12.0 BR. I never use any air asset which ups that. I threw the Tiger UHT out (was anemic anyways and got 12.3 BR slapped on it) and certainly I removed the EF2000 + F-18 with its staggering 13.0 GRB BR. Its more convienant to launch some Mavericks from a 12.0 BR platform, even if lacking otherwise. For GNSS Jdams I use the Tornado.
This way you might also get nice downtiers. Main action is on the ground anyways and air is just an option. Like if the map supports a covert approach, then I spawn air.
Pantsir would still be competitive if there wasn’t a bug that made it lose lock after dropping a single chaff
Pantsir still is but it’s not new so expect a BUK M3 next update with a 70km range
I would prefer if Russia kept getting the self contained SAM systems as long as the missiles are good.
modern TOR-M2 and Pantsir-SM variants with vastly better range.
The lack of FnF and survivability is fine as long as the missiles are very good it would make for an interesting trade off, unfortunately the Iris-T slm is a lot better then the S1 but i don’t think the BUK is the answer.
WoT PTSD intensifies
Indirect fire arty in games like WoT (or WT should it be implemented) is fun only for the arty operator.
They’re not going to be good tho, the Pantsir’s 40km missile is HTK only, no proxy and probably no warhead either (in reality would probably be a sidegrade to the normal missile), and all TOR systems they could add won’t be better than the HQ17.
The reason they’re going straight to BukM3 is because it can use ARH missiles.
WTM has an interesting way for it, you can start a drone, there you have a circle in which the rounds can impact, so unlike WoT you dont have pin point accuracy but always an RNG in it, also the Drone has just an limited range in which the Drone/Arty can use it, outside of that range you cant use the Drone as it has no Signal to the Howitzer, same goes to MRLS units in WTM.
