Well you COULD say that the system is called “IRIS-T SL” while SLS, SLM and SLX use different missiles. So we could call them S-Missile, M-Missile and X-Missile :D
Would be fun if SLM and SLX become modifications (SLS being the default missile) so you could spade the SLX with a much longer range for the current SLM system.

So it looks like developers think SLS and SLM missiles are same? literally wt* SLS is short range missile SLM is medium range missile and is larger SLX long ranger which in development will probably be capable 80 so also may be larger
how about in real battles is it same as before easy to dodge at longer ranges?
Gaijin thinks the SLM is just a worse SLS. The SLM is a dedicated ground launched version of the regular IRIS-T, and therefore it should achieve better performance than SLS. But Gaijin thinks otherwise.

HYDEF is also primarily for ships but theyve only recently been marketing it as ground launched too…
IRIS-T SL is the family; thats what diehl told me (and also why the missile is called SLM now)

i dont understand how 2 secondary sources (one for missile time on target) and the other for speed , confirmed by him is now a seconday source aswell still makes them not belive the mach 3 number you would think that reaching a target after a specific time at a know distance… you know, gets you some idea about the speed…
anyways, i still wonder what they gona do to get the missile to 40km
Probably decrease the explosive charge nerfing the warhead and making it a paper tube that just falls apart at mach 1 to the target at 40km… idk no other way makes any sense
They don’t think, they know that the missiles are different. But if they implement SLM properly it would end easy KH-38 fragging. Which they don’t want, so they woul use any excuse to keep the missile gimped.
I’m quite curious is the S-300 would be gimped in similar fashion.

the original argument was that systems capable of melting IIR seekers can’t be ‘equipped’ on ‘helis’ - you bargained by saying that transport helis can carry such systems if they are fully dedicated to that task. that’s not anywhere in the realm of DIRCM equipment
essentially you’re saying ABM DE weapons can be equipped on fighter jets because the boeing YAL-1 exists… maybe part of you realized that, resulting in you pulling the off topic card
