Ah, didn’t realise. This can be quite a fast moving thread, lol.
At this point stinger is just straight up better than SLM. Small, extremely mobile, effective range 5km is same. I wonder why gaijin even bothers to add SLM? So much work for nothing.
Also as side note, does gaijin wonder why SLM exists if it’s worse than stingers?
Yeah, I don’t see a point in these gigantic, multi vehicle AA systems, if the Ozelot is just going to be better… You’re not a giant target, your missiles have about the same performance, less range, sure, but it’s not like the SLM will hit anything beyond the Stinger’s range. The Humvee, Elde 98 and Chinese one might be somewhat useable of all the new SPAAs, considering they’re not the size of a small apartment and have the same or similar missiles as the big anti air systems.
I think they’re playing Su-30/34 right now and not thinking anything.
you see russian players really struggle against the flakrad and ito despite the meganerfs to the VT1 a couple years ago.
NATO players moving to bigger and weaker vehicles will ensure that the protagonists can launch their 16 kh38 per game, flying straight the entire time just like they do on the ground
lol he was in the KH38MT thread as well trying to justify it being in the game pretty much, which is why i stopped responding to him
Russian mains will try to justify anything that benefits that significantly
I know right!!
They keep telling the drag on 77 or 77-1 is too high but they keep forgetting the grid design at the back will introduce larger surface area thats why drag on it should be high!!
I hate them
I get the frustration, but rejoicing in the underperformance of the vehicles they enjoy and employing rhetoric such as “I hate them” isn’t exactly how we will be be able to meet in the middle and make the game better for everyone.
At the end of the day they are playing the game just like you or me, and in most cases they are not trying to be vindictive but rather have only their struggles with Russian vehicles to go off of just like you likely have your struggles with the vehicles you chose to play.
Trust me, part of me wants every nation but Russia to get a 40km death sphere spaa and then let Russia ground stew in obscurity for 2 years like other nations had to when the Pantsir got added.
If it was wrong for Gaijin to let Russia have complete spaa dominance for 2 years then we must advocate for Russia to keep parity in the anti-CAS department as well.
Sorry when did I justify it being in game? I remember only pointing out how MT doesn’t benefit from GNSS and showing the bug report that added it
Or do you mean the other Kh-38 thread where I pointed out it and the hammer should receive the same nerf?
Weird how your tone suddenly changed when Gunjob started talking no?
I see your point, totally
But gaijin wont let it happen
artificial nerf will just keep happening
My tone? I said the same thing to Gunjob that I said to you, “able to put pressure on anything that comes within range to where it is more difficult to get weapons off”.
I think you are mistaking “effective range” to mean your missile should be a guaranteed kill. If I am aware of the Pantsir, I can dodge them from 2km, 5km, 8km, you name it. Does that mean that Pantsir becomes ineffective at those distances? Absolutely not. The fact that you still have to make aggressive evasive maneuvers past the “effective range of 12-13km” that you stated means that it is effective past those ranges.
I even told Gunjob that any Pantsir that dies to a single Jdam or any “single” munition is merely not using the vehicle to it’s fullest because I typically have to launch no less than 6 of any type of munition for even a chance of killing a Pantsir that knows what they are doing. All this while still having to remain wary even at long ranges because the missile still has speed and some maneuverability behind it.
If you are taking issue with my tone specifically then it probably stems from distrusting the fact that the first thing you said to me on this thread was that the new spaa’s are still going to be better than the Pantsir when going subsonic by 12km.
The new SPAAs are not currently better than the Pantsir and it seems that at every turn you are attempting to gaslight people that the SPAAs are fine where they are at because the Pantsir already has similar ranges. Then I found that you have played almost exclusively Russia top tier with only fairly recent purchase of the Leo PzBT to test the waters of Germany and it just feels like you are trying to go against what this thread is for.
Correct me if I am wrong but I have explained myself fully to you.
When did I say Pantsir should guarantee a kill? Effective range means it can hit stuff with confidence at that range
Wow, so recent
Despite you know. Already having a Leopard 2A5 for a few months now before I gave up on ground entirely. As I said before, I have an interest in SLM because I have reached top tier Germany GF
Also when did I say it is fine currently exactly?
I know this is literally rocket science so it’s ok to make mistakes, but the confidence with which some people were talking about things they don’t know made me post this response.
Some people were comparing the specific impulse(Isp) of certain engines(at first not even realizing it was specific impulse that they were comparing) wondering if it is possible for a solid rocket to have an Isp of 400sec, and presenting as justification that it doesn’t use APCP fuel but a different type of fuel with litium mixed in.
First, APCP means Ammonium Perchlorate Composite Propellant, as such any proppelant that includes ammonium perchlorate and something else is considered an APCP.
Second, some studies were linked but no one seems to have read them. These studies examined standard fuels with an addition of lithium anywhere from 0.5% to 3% with the purpose of reducing the formation of HCl and agglomerates(small spheres of alluminium). In these studies it is stated that the perforamnce increase was just 7s of Isp.
Third, high performance solid rockets with HTPB(which is also what some sources say the iris-t uses) have an Isp of about 280s, maybe the best of the best have 300s. Suggesting that the addition of 3% lithium increases the Isp by 33% and results in an Isp that eclipses any non-hydrogen rocket engine and is even getting close to some hydrogen rocket engines is just irresponsible. Also i don’t think gaijin uses actual Isp numbers they just tweak them until the missile has the documented performance.
Finally, are there any reliable sources about the weight of the slm?
Does “hitting stuff with confidence” not mean it “guarantees a kill”?
I can dodge a Pantsir from any range if I am dedicated to watching him launch his missile and dodging correctly at the right time. Does that mean you can no longer hit with confidence from 5km? Does that mean the Pantsir’s effective range is less than 5km? No.
All I have to go on is that you have that you have several premiums bought to grind out Russia and almost the entire tree unlocked with them being by far the nation you have played the most games in. You then have 1 premium German tank with many matches played which tells me you ground out Russia, either finished it or got bored, and then decided to grind out Germany after spending all that time in Russia. I am sorry I was incorrect about the time period in which you started playing Germany.
Right here.
Most players who only play Russia defend the Pantsir by arguing how it’s not really that effective and that seemed to be exactly what you were doing. I am sorry if I misjudged your intentions but I still believe the Pantsir is currently more effective than the new spaa’s and while it may be easier to dodge at it’s further ranges, it is still effective in that you must actively do more maneuvering than just change direction.
I am not trying to take up this thread with our arguing so I am sorry if I offended you. I am passionate about what I want to see improved in the game and you and I are just going to disagree on a few topics and that is fine.
SLM kinda struggled with intercepting KH-38MTs in the lastest dev server. Reason? “No system can intercept 100% of munitions” as stated by Bug Reporting Manager. But don’t worry if same 6 Kh-38MTs were fired at Pantsir there would be no issues intercepting all of them :)
> looks at IRIS-T SLM track record
uhhuh…
Hey everyone, let’s keep our focus strictly on the SLM Please avoid bringing up the R-27ER or any other missile it only derails the conversation. What we need now is actionable input that helps us unlock the SLM’s true performance. If you have data, ideas, or design adjustments that can enhance its capabilities bring them in. Let’s cut the arguments and concentrate on solutions. Every contribution should push us closer to making the SLM work the way it’s meant to no more no less :)
