The thing about the IRIS-T is that it should be MILES behind the battle field, not immediately in range of any ground vehicles or helicopters.
I would prefet to be further from the battlefield (as it is in real life) since some maps have very “doo doo” and open spawns. This change could somewhat limit the stupid deaths of the IRIS-T and very close encouters. It would also somewhat extend the time it takes for the rocket to get there, give the pilots more time to react, and make better use of the smokeless motor. This would also give the IRIS-T more setup time.
With this change, the IRIS-T issues still persist even now and should be fixed, my bug report got closed and the issues are still there. The rockets are still locking onto each other or just randomly flying away. The Datalink is very broken, often breaks with clear line of sight with the radar.
I would also like to bring up the Kh-38MT, the non-existent missiles with made up stats. According to Gaijin, this made up missile has more explosive than some bombs and has the speed of mach jesus, any late russian jet can carry a “doo doo” amount of them, completly overwhelming the IRIS-T and since the rockets can’t hit a thing and have the logic of a 1yo, they just simply miss. This is a huge problem, Clan Wars are filled with Su-30SMs that EACH have 6 of them. When 4 aircraft are up, the spam is so bad, not even 2 IRIS-T and 1 Pantsir can defend it, wiping the whole team with one strike. I would also like to mention that the Su-30SM can see perfect TWS of the IRIS-T SL and can just shoot them down, absolute garbage.
I have tested this both as IRIS-T and against, in both cases, one Su-30SM was able to take down the IRIS-T with no issues AND SURVIED.
No, the maps are bad for all players, but whining cause your 70sp 2 click insta kill cant kill a 1000sp supersonic multiroll.
Instead how about ensuring you can get to a good area and only place 1 launcher instead of maming yourself a huge target, its not always a map issue, you could just have bad placement
I’m not sure if I made it clear but, I was talking about the AAs being in the hotspot of the battle filed.
I would prefer the CAS to go out of their way to kill the AAs, place the long range ones somewhere behind the battle field.
This could give the ground team more peace from CAS.
They ofc wouldn’t be marked directly, there would be like a zone of any shape where the long-range AAs would spawn and since the TEL can be up to 20km away from the TADS, they would spawn in random places in the zone.
This could give CAS harder time to kill ground, would make the CAS have to go out of their way to kill it if they want to be in the clear and If they get close enough, they could still see the smoke where the TEL vehicles are.
Also, I’m not sure what you mean by “Also imo 30km is enough”. That’s just the distance between the ground map and air vehicle spawns. You aren’t attacking their air vehicle spawn, you are defending the battle field from CAS.
20km away? Nah
Slm is already pretty strong and it comes from a certified kh38 hater.
Im Saying 30 km air spawn from the battlefield is enough time to shoot missiles and intercept stuff that coming so cas isnt that strong at least in grb
It’s strong because it’s in the wrong place on the map, it’s on the front lines, giving pilots less time to react, less places to dodge them and since they are so close, they have hight energy making them stronger.
If only the maps allowed it. There spawns are so small with so little cover, the is very little places to hide the AAs, making very obv where they are.
It isn’t always 30 km, there are obstacles that shorten the rage to less than 5km, with the player’s reaction time, slow missile start and very stupid guidance logic, the CAS almost always wins if they play aggressive.
The missiles are launched from very close distances, engine is bruning at max speed and they have a lot of energy to waste.
Not true, some maps are so bad, the IRIS is visible in every place on the spawn, small spawn => easier to kill for CAS.
Also not true, from ~5km, any jet with F&F missiles can spam them and quickly dive back flaring. For example, the Su-30SM can carry 6 Kh-38MT going at mach jesus, there is so little time to react and even when there is, the missiles are so fast, the IRIS-T SL often misses.
This is from my testing both as the IRIS and the Su.
U saying big maps are bad for irist cuz cas can spot them from distnace and also small maps are also easier for cas? Like both are bad for irist? It doesnt make any sanse and either way irist is stronger
U have enough time to react u dont need to reload and u can fire all at once
Also if its too close that u cant intercept in time then he is also too close to dodge them and flaring are rarly do something
If ur in the no escape zone u will 99% die
The playable area for the IRIS-T is too small on every map. You are so huge, you are fixed in spawn making your location obv.
The missiles are dumb, they miss all the time and the GUI is doo doo.
Listen, we could argue for years, I feel like the IRIS-T SLM is in a bad place in the game as of now. I’m not sure if you have it or not but I do. I have many games on it so I can have my opinion on it. I’m also not sure how much you know about the IRIS-T but isn’t not suppost to be in the front lines. Something like Ito, Pantsir or even the new chinese AA is great in that place but the IRIS-T simply isn’t.
I am only using one TEL at a time. I hide it behind cover but that doesn’t help, the TADS is big, hot, and is in very common places like spawn, you can’t move an inch with it without getting shot.
What I mean is that the IRIS-T SLM is a big AA that should be further away from the battlefield, not in the front lines. This change could balance it more and push it closer to reality.
Please create threads properly, slapping the SLM map placement, talking about Kh-38MTs and throwing in “Game balance” leads to the discussion being quite fragmented and doesn’t have a scope. Maybe create multiple threads for the single issues or topics.
An already, decently older thread, already talks about 2 of the issues mentioned in this and the previous Kh-38MT thread has been dealt with a while ago. Please make sure to check if there are already other threads available instead of creating duplicates just for the sake of bringing the issue up.
To discuss about the IRIS-T SLM please use the already created thread:
