Nope. The LDIRCM literally works like a magic field rather than an actual Laser emitter. You cant overwhelm it, you can just pray that the heli pilot is a bit dumb and your missile hits a blindspot.
Nope, people call it black magic for a reason, you can throw 16 and watch all of them bounce off of it
Tell me the devs didn’t try without telling me lol
Its so insane that the devs have been looking at this for over a year now and were just like “yeah thats fine”
Well clearly that’s how it works irl, let’s also not forget that the MI-28NM irl can only block from the bottom rear and not full 360°
This game is very realistic
the Mi28 dosent have full 360 coverage in WT
True but its not like the coverage being “just a little bit physically impossible” instead of “very impossible” is much better.
yes
but they “accidentally” duplicated its coverage by mirroring it
so it just happens to cover the most important direction in game, and in over a year they havent fixed it
Does it not? My bad then
The ‘Iris’ self-propelled anti-aircraft (SPAA) system is flawed; it looks so much like a toy that I don’t even bother using it. With the exception of the recently added EMBT, all German tanks have been weakened—they’ve effectively been “nerfed.” This renders these tanks artificially inadequate and underpowered. Playing as Germany is no longer as enjoyable as it once was; in fact, it has become nearly impossible to encounter a team composed of German vehicles—more often than not, they end up on the same side as the Russian team. It is also extremely rare to come across matches featuring teams made up primarily of German vehicles. The reason for all of this is that these vehicles have been artificially weakened (though, fortunately, they did at least add the EMBT—though in five years, we’ll probably see the 2A8 model, complete with paper-thin armor).
Worse part is, they couldve modelled it to only effect one or 2 missiles at a time, they just chose not to.
The Puma IFV has a directional IRCM system, and it points it at individual missiles, so if you fire missiles from different directions, it cant deal with both at once. Its IRCM system is actually modelled like a cone.
For the LDIRCM helis, the “beam” is literally modelled as a 360deg IR “laser”…
And the devs have the gall to pretend its a hard fix when they already have the proper model in-game on another vehicle…
They “can’t implement it with the current code” but a year from now they’ll somehow be able to model it, this has happened multiple times
Come on, they knew what they were doing.
It’s an arms race. People will grind and pay money to counter the OP thing or to become the OP thing.
If people didn’t pre order high priced premiums they wouldn’t do it.
The can 1000% implement it with the current code. I could implement it with the current code if someone who knows how to make user missions was willing to make one for me with a hovering AI LDIRCM heli where I can play with the DIRCM code. Its REALLY not that complex.
Here’s proof:
MUSS DIRCM code:
AH-64E LDIRCM code:
“azimuthSector” and “elevationSector” are the lines that cover the “beam” the DIRCM makes.
Here’s how those look via statshark render:
Its LITERALLY 2 values to fix.
Now, could maybe be argued that it wouldn’t “literally” be 2 values, since I assume the Puma IFV has some block of code in it to deal with turning the DIRCM module on its turret towards threats, which would also likely require the devs to copy paste that code into the helicopters code, but the point still stands that they HAVE all the code to fix them already. They’ve had the code to fix them since before they added the stupid things in-game, and they still chose to lie to players and pretend this was some kind of complex issue to solve, instead of just using code they already had working in-game for years.
Gaijin quite literally modelled the “laser” DIRCM to be a literal omnidirectional forcefield in the code, while the dazzle actually works kind of like a light (not sure why they decided to make it a rectangle instead of a square/circle, but whatever). So much for “laser” and “directional” I guess…
Oh, and for those who arent aware of the Puma IFV having a DIRCM system, here ya go, this post has a video of it in action:

They very much can, they just say they can’t cuz they’re lazy tbh
Oh no, situation is actually much worse. The only justification for this whole situation (and many more) would be them trying to balance things out and not let helicopters be permadead, right?
What do we have as a result of their balancing:
1)The only initial helicopters that were safe were chinese and rusian.
2)Both of them were super abusive from the very start of this change and still are.
3)The only reason why rusian helis are allowed to fly is that decision and guess what, their “balancing” turned it into a complete one sided abuse.
4)Guess who’s having the only SPAA capable of dealing with that abuse and preventing anyone from being killed by it?
I do think it was calculated, that’s too obvious and convenient to be a set of unforeseen consequences.
I didn’t want to but I will mention Germany here.
How it can’t deal with those helis at all. And at the same time not getting one + getting slapped on the neck with a completely DoA heli that would never be viable (and was deliberately released in that state).
I don’t know how many times it needs to happen for the people to start connecting the dots.
Gaijin did that because Russia relies entirely on getting into Heli CAS at top tier. Why do you think people spam BMD-4s, BMP-2M, BMPT etc? Because Autocannon + speed or stupid survivability means getting quickly getting enough spawn points for Heli CAS. If Russian players couldnt get into CAS quickly and suppress all ground gameplay because SPAA actually countered their MI-28NM/Su-30 spam, Russian winrate would crater because their tanks get steamrolled by all of the various M1/Leo2 clones.
So are German teams permadead. When their top SPAA can handle common helis, they just get nuked from helis with nothing they can do. Vice versa, when I spawn a Tiger heli, its gets instantly shot down by Pantsir SM with nothing I could do.
So what are you even writing there?
First - you replied to a wrong person. Second - I think you made a typo with “can”.
Third:
I wasn’t saying they’re good at it, it’s gaijin, come on. Balance is far from being their strong part. The only thing I said that it’s the only way to at least somehow justify, try to justify, on a thin ice somewhat a little itty-bitty try to, not be successful at it, try to justify a set of completely disgusting, stupid, amateurish and incompetent decisions on their part. It is the only way.
I also say that german helis are permadead because of their amateurish decisions. While unable to fight back at all.
So I don’t really get what part do you struggle with.
Fair enough, but if you claim the Russians are dependent on CAS (Close Air Support), then why do they allow Leopard tanks to be so vulnerable—to the point where they can be destroyed in a single hit? Even the Strv tanks have armor that is far superior to the Leopards’. In other words, if you’re going to argue that the Russians rely on CAS, you also need to adjust the armor on the German tanks to ensure proper balance.
