IRIS-T SLM and Multi-Vehicle SAM Systems!

SS definitely has value as it generates stats from millions of games.

I don’t know how true this is.
Pantsir is like several years newer than ADATS and Flarak but somehow has more battles under it’s belt, and in May it had as many battles as those two latter ones combined. RU definitely has strong AA presence.

Your statement about aircraft is directly conflicting with reports of who knows how many people saying they can’t live from the 38MT spam happening every single game. I can also use your argument against you and say RU has WR as high as this and 38MT is this problematic only because players from other nations don’t bother to research and spawn their CAP, which would easily mitigate most of the threats.

I’ve made the expierience that these surplus pen values won’t change the way you have to aim at enemy tanks. So A7 has higher pen, whose practical significance is rather low.
While Strv’s have better armor and better mobility…cause this super armor weighs significantly less than 30 years more modern A7 armor modules (which are worse on top .)

I dont understand why people think pen is the only stat that matters. Weight and diameter (diameter is hidden in game) are also super important if not more important than pen because they determinen the amount of spalling. The swedish/israeli round is the heaviest of all top tier MBT. Its also has a larger diameter than DM53. Making it have a lot more spalling. So in my opinion the Swedish have the better dart.

This simply isn’t true, for long rod darts (all top tier rounds) spalling is only affected by residual penetration, which means more pen = better.

Damm I didn’t know what, do they have identical residual penetration stats?

I think so as it wasn’t mentioned in the video.
This should be applicable for all long rod darts above 76mm, so for example HSTV-L’s round isn’t using this formula for spall.

Just randomly hopping into this conversation to say that was a very informative video. I don’t datamine so my understanding of the game comes from personal experience and from CC’s that I watch. Justinplays once said in a video that projectile mass has a lot to do with post pen damage (and that makes sense in my head) so I always operated off of that.

Personal experience tells me that the M1 Abrams round has terrible post pen damage but I guess that has to do with the thicker armor it fights relative to it’s low pen value. XM803 sabot doesn’t give me nearly as much trouble even though it also has low pen values but maybe it is just because it fights thinner armor?

Depends what type of round he was talking about.

Can’t really recall if that round is short or long rod, if it’s former than that video doesn’t really work for it.

So KH38 spam, i was killed today 4 times in one game once in my black knight where i had 5 kh38’s launched at me from 3 separate planes around 3 mins into the match i then died. went challenger E killed by KH38, ADATS KH38 and guess where they were launching them from over 13km away.

In total in the session ive just done out of 20 games which is what i tallied i was against Russia for 2 the other 18 i was against them even with smoke and moving away from the smoke I got killed 33 times out of which i had over 70 KH38’s fired at me every game without fail as soon as Russia mains get enough SP they either jump in a SU30sm, SU34 or SU25SM3.

What Gaijin should do is make SP work the same for aircraft as it does for tanks so if you die in your fighter you cant then jump straight into a strike aircraft. This would at least ease the issue of the kh38 spam. On a personal note i wish they would implement brimstones accurately but that’s for another day.

I suppose things will drastically change after the new update drops.

In my opinion we should receive TO, as in these higher BRs tanks simply are a passenger in the fight against CAS, which isn’t fun.

Could this mean Sweden could get the SLM in the far future?

they will probably get it once the IRIS-T SLM isnt that relevant ingame anymore

Yes, as Sweden is known to receive irrelevant things.

When they actively operate it yes, but not before that

2028 delivery. Then it needs to be trialed and adoped into the armed forces. So 2028-2030 would be the date imho. By then the System might already have the SLX as standard missile.

Well that’s why I said Far in the future lol

I tried to find a source that gives information on when the Nose cone jettisons and the ones that I found claim it jettisons the Hood just before switching to an IR track which makes sense. There was also a video of a launch test with the IRIS-T SL missile where it looks like gas is expelled discourse in flight which explains a gas ejection of the Nose cone but the quality is so poor to tell if that actually was the ejection that it’s not definite enough to be accurate. Another source claims that a guidance computer determines when to switch to the IR mode which makes sense.

My best guess is that the jettison for the Nosecone happens right before the missile changes to an IR TRK which logically makes sense.

Btw I made a big bug report about this, check it out:

Quite annoying that each launcher counts as a separate death

I dont have much experience with top tier spaa/cas but i just saw this video and it seems a bit… broken? like you just click a bunch on a list and intercept everything? the gameplay looked a bit ridiculous imo

i think cas should have been balanced by removing overkill ordinance like the kh38, limiting plane spawns and adding slightly better spaa but this seems overkill

It doesn’t work that way, at 12.0 yeah it’s a bit op of an aa but against 13.0 planes it’s pretty much dead meat, your missiles will switch track to rockets and flares very often. Plus it can only reliably intercept AGM-65 and KH-29, KH-38 and Hammers are pretty much immune rn.
