Well, i have no insight behind the scenes or any sort of connection with development. Game Masters only handle (and have insight into) chat and name bans. I’m at the exact same level as the rest of you when it comes to those topics :)
But personal guesses/opinions:
No idea, we can hope but i honestly have no idea.
I think most sources i’ve seen say 12km for the surface launched short range version and 40 km for the surface launched medium range version, Those numbers are also on the stat cards in the DEV server. There are currently several reports on the range of the medium range one as it seems to not be able to reach those distances, but no idea if Gaijin will actually fix those issues before the update goes live later.
The 20-25 km ranges i’ve only seen in relation to the Air launched version :)
Again, no idea, but the best time to report issues backed by acceptable sources is likely during the DEV server as that is when all new vehicles gets the most attention.
Most respondents from this very forum reported not seeing any significant Russian bias in the game, it’s just the loudest players who say that… hmmmmmm
Wait wait wait… I have a completely new thought.
What if
what if
WHAT IF
the vehicle isn’t actually ready to be put into the game, and it’s just on the dev server right now, to be tested for issues?
With so many American truck options like the “Oshkosh M1070” or the “Oshkosh HEMTT A4” you had to make fun of it by putting an old hamer. You could leave your dislike for the American a little aside.
Love this new multi-SAM system! The IRIS-T SLM is super cool, but the missiles need some fixes. Sometimes the lock-on is weird, and the radar occasionally fails to detect targets. In reality, the missiles can intercept more threats like other missiles, bombs, and more. Overall, the models and how everything has been implemented are really well done and very cool!
We need bigger maps for top tier games for everyone not just SPAA. Even smaller maps make no sense in terms of stopping campers from shutting the game down. Somone posted normandy, that map is small, but the second someone on east team gets to the church on the south flank they can lock down both spawns from there. Poland same deal east spawn gets control of C cap and both spawns for west team are camped.
Top tier vehicles with LRF darts, good mobility shut down games on these small maps and can camp both spawns at the same time, at least on bigger maps they can only lock down 1 spawn, and these SPAA systems have some room to breathe.
Other problem for these SPAA are maps with tons of terrain masking options, things like veitnam, fulda, space port, etc. CAS can play in the mountains, pop up fire off AGMs and dive back into the terrain with impunity.
Other problem is pantsir is pretty good at intercepting things thrown at it, not sure how these new systems are going to deal with say an EF2000 slinging out gobs of brimstones, gonna waste all their ammo trying to shoot them down and then have to drive a school bus onto a cap without dying to rearm… good luck with that.
The 0.001% of people in the forum that wants bigger maps…
Theres a reason why the common folk dosnt want to play big maps. Gaijin will habe the dtats of dislike and bannes maps… and theres a bloddy reason why they stopped adding big maps after red desert.
I have a large concern that nobody seems to address, since we’ve passed this threshold of multi vehicle SAM’s.
This update will be an amazing addition for SPAA (and I’m incredibly grateful we finally get a solid defense vs aircraft at high tier) and will provide a much needed response to the overbearing CAS threat that has long harassed tankers.
My only, and biggest fear is what Gaijin will introduce afterwards, next generation fighters with actual stealth capability? Some BS overpowered S300/S400 system for the Russians? This addition is amazing, but what will follow it to maintain “balance” in Gaijin’s eyes?
We know what happens when we get something nice, it comes back to bite us in the a$$. (updated internal modules for “light vehicles at high tier” anyone?) I’m not complaining about this update, I think it’s one of the best one’s since the playerbase revolution 2 years ago. I am however weary and concerned of the floodgates it’ll open, with my biggest fear being modern Russian SAM’s that will outperform the NATO counterparts in all areas until the Patriot counters them.
I beg all players hold their ground on the issue of CAS, do not permit the introduction of anything that will perpetuate said issue beyond this update, whether aircraft or more powerful SAM’s for only the Russian tech tree.
A source? Check the forum activity vs the playerbase… how many are in the forum anf hoe many of the people in the forum complain? Thats 0.001% of the playerbase at its best that complains about it… not so diffucult to proof here.
You are not gauging in the opinion of the players outside the forum, you are just asserting that everyone who doesn’t post here must absolutely dislike big maps, not how it works.
Big maps offer counter play and games last longer, small maps are decided in the first 1 minute of the game starting, that sounds lame for a game about tactics and team play if you ask me.
What makes you think its the other way around? Now im listening…
What all i can tell, if people dont like smt, they tend to say it more often then the other way around. And by that logic most will be fine with how it is, as its really a super low amount of complainers.
Also i would guess that Gaijin would not aim for Faster Matches if that wouldnt be what people want and brings them money… everythink they do and how they and the playerbase behaves is indicating that most dont want big maps.
But im listening, show me your arguments now. And dont bring smt up like “if the maps would be biggert the rounds would go longer”… that correct… but thats also not what most players want, judging by the reasons i have given.
Btw thats not my personal opinion how it should be… i just try to explain why its likely not going to happen.
