I really believe Gaijin should revert this change and implement this feature instead to improve IRCM and LDIRCM resistance.

I know I saw a bug report that the IRIS-T should have a very strong AESA radar, any info on that?
A lot of relevant reports were accepted for SLM radar, some were actioned, the most important ones weren’t yet like being modelled as an actual AESA TWS radar which would give more track updates faster.
Nvm the report to fix the ability to hit closely spaced munitions was shut down, but this report is open

And I know that they even usually leave reports open like this even if it got “fixed” or actioned on.
It just got fixed?
It’s just a matter of fixing the already underperforming radar, increasing the lock range (or adding more conditions for greater or shorter lock ranges) and nerfing LDIRCM to realistic levels and there will be an end to this nonsense.
Yup! Just after asking Smin if the report got fixed, this report got its label changed.
This confirms my suspicion that this report is the reason for the lock change
Woah, Woah, only one thing per major update, that’s the best they can do
I will give you how this missile works in before this update. If enemy plane spawn normally it will pop up around 25km from battlefield, once the dish scan the target twice it will tell you which direction enemy plane going (this is the best time to launch missile and the DL will guide it at the closest estimation target will be engaged). And you only have around 3-5 second before enemy hiding and lost from radar (at this stated your IRIS T will stay in IOG mode but it already in good position to engage enemy), after this you need wait for several second and hope enemy plane not maneuver and change direction while not being detected and wait for the IR seeker activated (at this stage the missile already almost in time to switch on the seeker around 10km from target), and boom 10km, the IR works tracking enemy and hope no terrain block it since DL not working after this even if enemy pop up on your radar again and the radar will label it as new target and missile got amnesia.
While in current state… man… 4km so short, to the point you need to expose entire radar for long time, and the enemy gone, hiding. Then the missile in IOG state for long time and the missile just wondering until the battery gone. This missile dont have their own radar like BUK so not really FnF as long your IR seeker not activated. This missile rely on his IR seeker (DL only on early stage before IR seeker switch on) to track and hit enemy.
One thing every 6 months so we can add another broken and meta defining weapon and vehicle :P
Well, if the IRIS-T was brought to some reasonable state, Russia would have to get something better to counter it ;p
Anybody ever got teamkill when using IRIS-T?? When the missile already in “wondering” state it sometimes turn on it IR seeker to closest plane then track it with the last energy and kill anything close to it. This is the amnesia state that I mention.

I was think something like another BMD with computer to calculate the impact position but sure, that will work too
There are people reporting this to shut down the debate about the iris-t nerf. Great day
reeally love how gaijin nerf all time german vehicles afther some time… and now again this is a realistical nerf?
Yeah, but actually making liwhatever behave in a semi realistic way would take effort.
It has to be intentional. There is precisely zero chance this crap would pass the most basic test cases if it wasn’t intended to be like this. Where I work, this would never have passed the pull request as it wouldn’t pass the unit tests or meet the requirements.
The gaijin loop is :
-
Release ridiculously overpowered or broken system
-
Ignore the outcry for months or years. <— you are here.
-
actually fix the issue, or change a mechanic to counter it.
-
being the cycle again an update or two later.
No it tracks the plane in its search cone, how would it know what plane is closest to it
Dunno, it just random event lol. So far I only manage to kill 2 teammate with IRIS-T SLM. Suddenly I saw my missile who failed to hit enemy just wondering in circle then suddenly I saw it got IR TRK. Since I uncheck “Friendly” in sorts I just realized the missile tracking teammate. The 2nd time it hit hovering A129D. For your information the missile already so slow and even I can’t sait it moving at all in radar. I dunno if teammate goin into that missile direction or just gayjined.
