IRIS-T SL - The Surface Launched variants

Because of this report: Community Bug Reporting System

Which cites some pretty poor evidence to say the least.

thats also a report for SLM and yet they change it for SLS - SLM is still at 40

ahh why do i still care

Wait wait, they nerfed the missiles based only on this? Lmaoooo

Oh, it’s our angy copeman again. Who should we call on malicious misrepresentation of sources? Or should we give him some more time, there’s a chance that because of him SLM could be buffed to 100g overload.

is it possible that one of the factor resulting in the range being quite lackluster is the absence of drag reduction when the nose cap is on ?

Off topic in that thread + he is likely part of the group that got the IRIS-T nerfed using a dubious reading of a single secondary source in the first place, since he works very closely with the bug reporter, so not really the people to be asking lol

Mm, nice, did they get anything else from that document? Because I’ve seen it, it says “50g turns have been reported” right?

No, cuz the document isnt about any actual technical aspects of the missile, its about insensitive explosives and propellant. The “50G reported” comment is literally just a fluff point that has no actual reason to be in the presentation beyond making the powerpount seem less empty. Its a secondary source at best, and considering the context of the document, it shouldnt even be admissible as a source.

Its good enough for gaijin tho since they’ve provwn their abject hatred of the IRIS-T system as a whole, with both the SLS and SLM variants being gimped to the point of irrelevance, all while gaijin categorically refuses to accept any source for their bug reports.

I guess everyone knows why Iris is handled like this. Was to expect. I followed the reports a bit and it seems they just don’t wan’t it to be close to its rl capabilities. Once this point is reached, any further reports and efforts are pointless. Similar to the Leopard 2A7.

Sounds like a certain KH-38 version…

I would say lol, but there is nothing to laugh at.

I guess someone will have to make a new report.

There were enough screenshots and descriptions in this thread for a valid report. The fact that the thread was closed cause ‘not enought info’ is very strange. Likely bias.

During MFE 2025, Diehl Defence, together with the German Navy, successfully conducted a live test-firing of a navalized IRIS-T SLM launcher on board the F-125 class flagship F222 FGS Baden-Württemberg.
From concept to this first test firing only 10 months passed during which Diehl had to integrate the SLM system with the naval C2 and radar systems

So I guess the “S” in “SLM” now also stands for Ship

did these twats test the weapon in an offline enviroment?

And if i understood it right back when they announced to integrate them on ships.
The plan is to Quad pack them in the VLS.

that is a different plan

the F-125 class does not have VLS cells so the plan here was to just mount them on the ship deck as done here.
It is however integrated with the TRS-4D and other systems of the Ship

Mk41 integration will probably still happen but is likely to take a looong time, especially if they want to go for quad packing (anything else would be not very smart imo)

Idk even in a custom server with friends we still cant seem to recreate any of the issues that we find in live matches
Is it just a player count thing making it be buggy in real matches?
