IRIS-T in South African Air Force service

I found Information (not clasified) that the SAAF purchased 25 IRIS-T AAM in 2009 .
I think it is time for an IR missile overhaul as the current in game missiles on aircraft are outdated compared to the aircraft that operate them (exept for R73) .
just my thoughts :)

Na am just saying that the Russians get their best missile while the rest of the nations dont.

It’s literally from 1982, making it older than the AIM-9M (1983) or Magic II (1986)

Funnily, the R-73 is the most outdated by date of introduction of the current top tier missiles. As walletwarrior said, its older then an aim-9m. But also the russian top tier vehicles are starting to be versions from the 2010s, while other nations are mostly using 1990s or 2000s spec vehicles.

IMO service/first flight date is a dumb way to measure vehicle/missile performance or balance stuff, Su-35s first flight was before Su-30sm first flight, does that mean su-35s is worse? Ofc not.
Actual capability is more important.
