true, but even while fixed, an insane range, fire and forget, and just how hard the iris missiles are to evade makes this system super deadly, which is good for the cas problem, but bad for balance.
and then a “pansir situation” remerges, where the iris-t is farr better than the other SPAA systems, because keep in mind, SPAA compete for kills too
The range may not be insane. The FnF might be just barely adequate with Gaijin neglecting to implement the good things about the seeker. If they do not implement DL, it’ll be missing half its guidance and have to be fudged further. This system, whilst a step up from what we have, is not necessarily as threatening as you assume it to be.
As an example, were I to engage it with a Rafale or Su 30 (the two threats the system would be most beneficial to counter), I would still be able to loose a missile and turn cold well before I was within the envelope the IRIS would be considered a threat. It will be quite threatening to a lot of stuff, but with the TVC wobble of death, it may not be as much of a threat as you lot hope.
I would love for it to come in potent. I am fond of playing CAS but have been saying for an age that there needs to be a threat from the ground, and if this were that threat, great. But I’ve many doubts about the implementation.
yeah, but that can be said for a lot of things gajin adds, gajin can completely ruin any new additions by nerfing them, bugging them, and just forgetting to add there most important features.
whether this system will live up to its full potential is up to gajin, but without being “gajined”, it already is way superior than its competitors.
yep, ive been playing for around 3ish years maybe, as a dedicated israel main, my hope is practically gone for this game, thats why when I heard the SPYDER could be coming, my hope was semi restored lol
im not against the iris-t-slm, I think its a great option to counter cas, as i not a big fan of the top tier cas situation rn.
what i am concerned about is another “pansir situation”, where in 2023 when the pansir was released, other spaa models struggled to survive in an environment where the pansir was farr better than they where.
Currently remains to b3 seen if gaijin does a good job with the multi vehicle mechanic.
For all we know, they might just make it an IR only SAM with radar acting as seeker guide
yes it was mainly because of the sheer area denial capability it has with regards to AGMs and A2G munitions
not to mention CAS literally being forced to spawn inside its engagement range
it was so bad that we found a bug that the CAS aircraft would spawn on the map before the player could use it and the pantsir already had a missile on the way before the player got control of the aircraft
No. It won’t be too broken, and SPAA will still be at a disadvantage because of poor modeling. Also because 90% of SPAA players sit in spawn next to each other, the concept of physical cover doesn’t exist to them…
I’ve said this before, but it will most likely be static SAM sites that will be off map limits, you only control the command and fire control system truck but no in the sense you get to drive it or move it around.
It will be most likely a third person view with a radar indicator like regular SPAA. I doubt Gaijin will model the interiors and give us some sort “first person” view of the insides of the command truck, although that would be cool and immersive as hell. But yeah, it’s not that big of a deal to place these systems on the edges or corners of the map and have them be just static objects like the SEAD event.
The only concern is how would radars and launch system cope with being damaged, will they repair themselves, or will the player have to wait for them to respawn? I suppose killing the command truck kills the player and the entire SAM battery with it.
