Invisible armor plate on the MZ series autoloaders that absorbs spall

Hello, I have recently opened a bug report on the strange performance of the MZ autoloader and how it seems to absorb spall and prevent it from hitting the crew, the report can be found here: Community Bug Reporting System

The summary is that there appears to be, quite literally, a invisible plate that isn’t shown on the X-ray. Images below! Vehicle used for this example is the T-80UD/BE.

X-ray of T-80UD/BE with armor parts, autoloader and spall liner option checked

Forementioned "invisible plate" highlighted in purple, along with the shell enterance hole in green

Here is a compilation video of shell tests on different tanks: https://youtu.be/3mLE2z30w-8

Outside of that, I just wanted to open this thread to help create some discourse and draw attention to the bug report, that’s all!

Must be on Conqueror too…

Getting a screenshot of T-80 ammo surviving a 122mm APHE round is extremely difficult.

Oh wait, nvm… it just wasn’t close enough to the explosion.

This isn’t a dismissal of your hypothesis, it’s just not a great testing method.
