LOSAT missile themselves are incorrect. I’ve smacked a Challenger 2 in the side before from 2000 meters away and all that happened was that the engine, transmission were killed and the loader died.
LOSAT is still terribly performing, but I digress. The Russian ERA is overperforming.
Russian Tanks are volatile. From a Realism standpoint, it doesn’t make sense in-game, which is why their durability comes into question.

I’ve definitely seen Russian ERA eating multiple HEATFS in the same place when it’s only supposed to eat 1 round.
Sometimes it must explode just if anoyher ERA parts atound explode. Clearly can be seen on T-80BVM IRL for example. On hull.
As Navy_Phantom said. Due to tanks layout and things like thin armor that won’t spall. This leading to what we seen. (module and thin armor catching all the spall)
Maybe if we had see more datamine. It might tell us more about such problem.
Not to mention how wonky it is to have ERA eating whole 105-120mm APFSDS rod…

Gaijin seem to think that hot piece of metal (spall) flying faster than the speed of sound hitting ammo propellant are like using cutter knife to cut open ammo case thus only made it turn black or turn yellow. (not just Soviet vehicles btw)

Gaijin did intentionally nerf ammo explode / burning change across the board. Without any patch note or mention in dev blog (which isn’t acceptable behavior )
T series armor is definitely buffed, a T80BV got detonated through the UFP in Ukraine by what im assuming isn’t the latest and greatest apfsds round. In game its impossible for any round to pen this spot.

That’s spaghetti code bro. There are plenty of times you can shoot vehicles in-game and then the ammo just does not detonate. If anything I find eastern tank ammo more reliable to detonate just because its completely unprotected most of the time.
As I have to point out everytime this is brought up, do we know if that T-80 was actually destroyed by the hit, as well as what actually hit it there?
This is a photo of a T-72A turret that defeated 3BM15, despite the huge hole on the outside. A hole on the outside =/= complete penetration. We also know the exact composition of the T-80BV’s UFP armor, which is how it is modeled in WT, and pretty much all NATO top tier MBTs can penetrate through the lower part of the UFP.
And DM53 don’t have historical anti ERA property for it
