Information Regarding the Thai Subtree and Chinese Vehicles

I don’t think any can. This is just Gaijins way of weakening armor, by using estimate protection only against the lowest penetrating round at top tier (which was JM33 at the time). It’s not realistic or logical, but they won’t change it unless they get more accurate information that is literally impossible to provide.

This really needs to change.

A link to this document could help

There is no link to a document, I’m trying to make sense of Gaijins reasoning here. This is the only reason I can think of for choosing JM33, a round that the Chinese most definitely wouldn’t have used for armor testing.

I believe they are referring to planes still in development. There’s been some sightings but not much is known. J-36 is a speculative name for one such design.

In a report made by Major Lin Zhenglian of the ROCA, the APFSDS shot of the ZTZ99a was “able to vertically penetrate 850mm of homologous armor at 2000 meters”

To add to that credibility, the PLA was referred to as the “Opposition” or “enemy” in this report, there is no reason for the author to exaggerate this number.

I am currently working on translating the whole text, but since it is 22 pages long and filled with confusing traditional chinese, it’s gonna be a while before I finish. Although you all are very welcome to use gpt or google to see what’s what.

Yea no I don’t think that ones very accurate

Hmm, I got my bit of info, where’s yours?

Because those 0° numbers are derived from LOS penetration afaik.
You’d get absurd flat pen for any modern APFSDS using that method

that doesn’t answer the question bud, where did you pull that 577mm out of?

Btw, here’s another piece of inaccurate info, “using slanted armor designs, paired with add on ERA, the frontal protection can reach up to 1000mm”

granted it might be underperforming by some 20-30mm because we don’t have the exact dimensions. But since the size of that shell is limited by the autoloader anyways, you are not getting anywhere close to 850mm.

what?

so while we’re at it, why dont we put the finnish sub into the soviet tree

That’s not the same tbh

I don’t think that would have any effect

That is very much not an issue exclusive to China though. It happened a lot with Leopards for example

Both German, UK and US sabots (hell im sure everyones sabot by now) reach similiar figures IRL as far as I can tell, but this leads to two interconnected issues

Game balance and armor

@Armen_Lozone sorry for ping, but could you remind me what penetration figures would DM73 fired from L/55 reach? I just want to demonstrate a point.

We absolutely could slap IRL penetration figures onto current ingame sabots

BUT!

With current ingame armor values, we would reach a point where everyone is able to penetrate eachother (god that came out wrong lol).

Sure, we could fix armor values then, but seeing as modern day tank armor composition is one of the closely guarded secrets, in some cases the armor would still be at best guesstimation. Well educated guesstimation, but still guesstimation.

It would be simply balancing mess, and more likely than not the armor wouldnt be able to stop the sabots with IRL values, meaning meta would shift to “whoever shoots first wins”. This would inevitably lead to tanks without proper gun depression and bad gun handling characteristics being seen as bad.

There could be argument made that we dont need to buff chinese and UK and prolly few other sabots to IRL values, just bring them on par with other nations, and I have no problem with that if im being honest.

aaaaaaaaaaand… why is it not adequate?

for others
penetration is not the characteristic Gaijin would change due to documents

Just as VT4 joins Japan
