I’d love to see Infantry in War Thunder, especially with how well made most vehicles are and my love for guns and IFVs.
But yeah. I would much rather Gaijin fix the game first. ARB is a mess, Sim is a dumpster fire and all of them share the same issue: BR Compression. The maps suck, vehicles are nerfed and buffed inconsistently.
I think a lot of games would benefit from an “Operation Health” situation we saw on Siege. Instead of a major update, many issues would be fixed and nothing new would be added. Some of the best seasons in Siege’s history were just after Health or a bit later. I don’t think many people would mind War Thunder taking a few months to fix the most glaring issues in the game.
Gaijin also believed they can enter the market with enlisted, or recently with the EA of Active matter… biggest flop 2025. Especially when 3 ULTRA BIG competitors (BF6, ARC Raiders and Arena Breakout and even Escape from duckov which is pure PvE but still more what people want then Active Matter) released just recently xD
They also believed that a lot of players wanted Ships in the game… well the queue times tell a different story xD
CAS is btw no different, just because it sells good dosnt mean a lot of people would continue to queue up for combined battles if there would be a tank only mode.
And Infantry mode would be likely no different.
There is basically 2 modes that they need to add that improve the game.
Tank Only ofc.
A proper PvE mode.
Even though i personally dont seek for a koop PvE mode, thats still smt a ton of general Gamers like.
If they introduce infantry into war thunder in a FPS style like squad or maybe more fast paced like batllefield (humans have never been realistic in war thunder), they can bridge the gap between Arma/Squad and Batllefield.
With Gen 5 aircraft and the last few modern MBTs, Gaijin will be running out of new stuff to add that creates a lot of hype. Only way to gain a massive influx in players from here on now is to add infantry. And the views on the YT video (1.3 million rn) show that there is a “want” for this.
Enlisted failed because of multiple reasons (just watch a Yt video for the whole picture) and Active Matter will not have a lot of players, primarily because it’s a game you have to pay for in a genre that is overpopulated and already milked dry.
It shows that they “want this” are u nuts? Thats not how the world works my dear.
By that logic people want war, as there are millions watching videos about it lol.
Whatever man. This topic has been discussed 50 times with people having varied opinions. One thing is clear tho, a mode for infantry will likely attract more players than naval as a whole ever had. Gaijin has Enlisted, Active Matter and cooperations with mundfish as a base to build upon.
So purely from a business point of view it makes sense to at least put it up for consideration. That’s all I can say. Whatever your personal opinion about this is, i honestly dgaf.
Ima wager either this next major update (Wouldn’t be the first time somethings introduced with minimal tests) Or next year.
Pretty sure these are the next runner ups for taking a major update. Submarines, aircraft carriers, HARMS, gen 5, modern naval, and (Very very slim chance) QOL/Bugfixes.
Not anytime soon. I would not be at all surprised if this was a plan for '27 or '28. We still have submarines to come, and a fair number of top tier bangers left for various modes.
The last update of the year is typically focused on air.
I expect submarine beta to come in the summer of 2026, and infantry a while after that.
20 snail cents states its just a big LoL. I think the snail lets them leak because that is just how things are on there end. The community wants it and it allows them to avoid flak. It could just be them memeing anyway and when the first dev blog comes out its just something else. They have all this trust you might as well light it on fire and have fun.
