Sadness
I hope this aint just april fools. I also hope the e sports is april fools.
Tho it might be some teaser for whats to come, for Enlisted.
It’s amazing, but it really seems like AI-controlled infantry could be added to the game. For example, we already have plenty of IFVs and transport helicopters—they could deploy troops to captured points, providing extra defense. This would force the enemy not just to drive onto the point but to actually fight to take it back. It would add much more dynamic gameplay.
Incendiary bombs, flamethrowers, and other weapons would finally have a meaningful role in combined battles. Infantry would be present in the fight, but players wouldn’t directly control them, making every match feel fresh and unique. This would make the game more exciting and the maps feel more alive.
Since tank battles already take place on massive maps, helicopters could freely deploy troops, adding even more strategic depth. Additionally, high-tier AA vehicles—like Italy’s SAM systems or the Gepard—would have more significance.
Ultimately, this could turn tank battles into true combined-arms warfare. The developers have already experimented with AI-controlled infantry in the game, so refining and officially releasing this feature would be incredible. It would bring tons of new possibilities and make the gameplay significantly better.
But it seems like this will remain just a dream. Still, such battles would have way more teamwork and be far more engaging.
Dear Gaijin Developers,
As a long-time War Thunder player who enjoys the immersive and strategic nature of vehicle-based combat, I’m concerned that the upcoming addition of infantry could fundamentally shift the game’s core experience.
The current gameplay—focusing on tanks, aircraft, and combined arms vehicle battles—is what sets War Thunder apart from other games. Many players, including myself, value the complexity of armored warfare, realistic mechanics, and the tension of vehicle-versus-vehicle encounters.
If infantry is to be introduced, I strongly suggest keeping it as an optional mode or implementing it in separate events or battle types, so that those who prefer classic vehicle combat can continue to enjoy it without compromise.
Thank you for your continued development and attention to community feedback. I’m truly looking forward to seeing War Thunder evolve—without losing the identity that made it great.
Sincerely,
A dedicated vehicle-focused player
i really hope they actually make the infantry playable and not just background like in the ww1 event,
this has insane potential but the cherry on top would be if its a toggleable thing like night battles.
man this gets me exited for the future of wt i really hope it isnt just an april fools gag xdd
It’s fun for a dedicated periodical event like WW2 but how would you implement Infantry in a mixed era game? What would you have 80s uniform or WW2? What weapons?
depending on era
era IV - WW2
era V - post ww2
era VI vietnam war era/ 70’s/80/s
Era VII - 90’s, early 00’s
Era VIII - late 00’s, 10’s with exception of russians, early ratnik kit infantry, so 2016-2017 when they started adapting 6sz112 with 6b43 body armor and 6b27 helmets (or we accept 2020 ru tanks with 00’s infantry)
Dear @Smin1080p_WT or @Stona_WT , would you be so kind as to offer some enlightenment if this news article was april fool’s joke or should we expect news about it at a later day?
honestly i wouldnt know where to start but i atleast would make it so its a different gamemode or toggleable setting like i said
and about the weapons i mean i suppose we should have different types of weapons and infantry based on br like how the pilots models change as you go to higher br’s
Somebody made a now deleted post on reddit this morning basically confirming that its not April fools and is a genuine thing, just timed poorly or timed perfectly to annoy us.
I really want to know how a random person confirmed it’s real.
They spoke to a suggestion moderator who confirmed it wasn’t an April Fools joke, Sorry previous post with link was shadow-deleted.
A suggestion mod would not have insider information.
I’m only speaking from my memory, I read and saw that post as soon as I woke up thinking it was a dream. Can’t remember if it was a Suggestion Moderator, but it was definitely a Moderator of some sort who gave a reply that it was genuine.
It was a curious situation. A user contacted customer support asking if the infantry trailer was an April fools joke, and the representative that responded confirmed that it was not a joke.
I am not sure if it is a good idea to put trust into a post. That was deleted.
Excuse me if I doubt it.
If it were posted when it was still April 1st I wouldn’t. But it wasn’t, the image and responses looked genuine and it was one of two posts the user made today on the topic, both were deleted for unsaid reasons.
