Currently, Radar Warning Receivers in-game all share the same sounds when in real life they are all different. I propose that RWR’s get modelled with their own sounds where possible. This would make the game more realistic and each aircraft more unique.
Here’s a few examples of what some should sound like. (Yes some of these videos are from DCS however they correctly model each RWR to have their own realistic sounds.)
SPO L-150 (MiG-29’s, Su-25/27/30/33/34 + more)
F-16C
F-14
F-15C
F/A-18C
Viggen
Unlike in-game the aircraft represented often do not share equipment such as radar warning receivers, each nation has their own equipment and train there pilots to understand the various noises and warnings to be effective in combat, there is no universal sounds like there is in War Thunder. My proposal for individual radar warning receiver sounds aim to make the aircraft feel more unique and true to life and realistic which War Thunder often prides itself to be. It would also be of benefit to Sim battle players as some RWR’s have sounds that are not present in War Thunder
Whilst I am suggesting this be added to the game there are some sound mods which have achieved this however with some limitations. For example the Immersive Aircraft Sounds by VikoHusky (fantastic sound mod, used to run it with other sound mods however sadly no longer works well when mixed) can’t have the F-15C and F-15E RWR’s in the same install. This is due to some limitations with War Thunder sound modding meaning this and more things are not possible. However if we implemented officially into the game these limitations would not exist.
