History
809 Naval Air Squadron was formed in 1941 at RNAS St Merryn, in Cornwall. They flew the Fairey Fulmar from 1941 to 1943 when it was replace in the squadrons service by the Seafire series for the rest of the war.
The Squadron has been disbanded and reformed on multiple occasions, notably in the Falklands war, where upon returning home they were disbanded again without even a year of full operations. More recently the squadron was recommissioned at RAF Marham on Friday 8th December 2023 as the Royal Navyβs only F-35B squadron currently.
The Decal
The decal this suggestion is proposing is 809βs iconic phoenix as seen on the F-35B at the squadrons recommissioning ceremony, it would probably ruin the stealth of the aircraft but it looks cool as hell.
