I have gotten to 8.0-8.7 in the US air tech tree, and if I were to be honest, it’s a huge shift in playstyle and dogfighting. I have tried the f80, f84, f86a-5/f-2, and others in that bracket. I tried boom and scooting with the f86f2 but the guns overheat super quickly and all the jets I face there are either supersonic or fire missiles. This may just be a skill issue but I feel like all the planes I try just get outplayed by overpowered jets in the br. Like the LA-200 slamming my F86A-5 without even trying. The tutorials are super outdated and wont work in the br bracket anymore because of new jets being added. I greatly thank any advice you guys give me but I’m not so sure about continuing air anymore, likely due to heavy burnout.
Edit: I forgot to mention the fact that every game all the stuff my level dies because I’m being uptiered with planes with afterburners zooming by and killing everyone and everything just to get my tail torn off without learning anything useful for my growth in the game.
Early and Korean jets are some of the most fun battles I get in ARB. US has some of the strongest planes around, but teams can be weak. There are very few US planes I can talk negatively about.
Usually what I do when in a situation where the other plane has vastly stronger qualities is to use them against themselves. They have really high speed? Manipulate them to be in their compression zone while chasing you, while you stay at a speed where your turn circle is much smaller, then bait them to get slow for you. As a subsonic fighting supersonics, you will most likely have better maneuverability at low-mid speeds. Don’t get discouraged if it doesn’t work out immediately, keep giving hope and frustrating your opponent until he takes a risk that benefits you.
The La-200 has poor roll, if you have it lead one way (using neg-g), then pull to the other side, it will not be able to follow very easily, and if given enough hope, you can trap the La-200 into a bad situation.
Vast majority of battles where you meet afterburning enemies, your team will also have afterburning planes. You need to support your afterburning teammates, especially if they are inexperienced players.
You have to create the conditions where your plane’s strengths can be used against the enemy plane’s weaknesses.
