I would just like to clarify here before this gets misquoted further, this was not what was said. Every BR is always subject to change.
We said, the BR was not going to change in the previous round of BR changes with the APDS removal, however the vehicle would be monitored after the removal of these rounds and any changes to its performance taken into consideration in the future.
We also clarified the BR was not going to go down with this major update even if the radar was not introduced, as the BR remaining where it was between the last BR update and now had nothing to do with the radar being planned. That was announced during the last round of BR changes as it was brought up quite a lot during the last round of feedback, bug reported and requested by many in the British community (to add the radar). Some also began to falsely claim the developers “lied” despite that never being the case and us explaining the investigation was still ongoing. With all of this in mind, it was decided to go ahead and introduce the radar, as it was clearly something people wanted to see.
The Falcon can go up or down depending on its performance by the next BR review. But that was never dependant on the radar.
I appreciate the clarification, but I strongly disagree with adding the radar under pressure from players when the source used to add it has clearly been used inappropriately and misleadingly.
Regardless, if the devs are set on a radar been the long term plan for the Falcon, it would be a zero-effort addition to retain the current radar-less Falcon as a separate vehicle, which would be the best of both worlds and keep everyone happy.
How do gaijin monitor other SPAAs’ and Planes’ efficiency then? Especially when we have separated GRB plane BRs yet we can’t see separated stats for GRB with public stats?
Hi Smin, apologies for the ping again, but I have been provided with primary documentation explicitly stating that the Falcon did not have a radar. I’ve made a [DEV] bug report for this, and attached the relevant excerpt below.
No, but that’s irrevelant. That radar that is being added to the Falcon (based on a non-Falcon brochure) is a search radar, it’s unfinished on dev which is why it is only a tracking director or whatever. The above document is confirmation that the Falcon did not have it fitted.
Thanks for the update, but this this response for some reason focuses on the un-built Falcon turret (which my report was not in relation to), and has very selectively picked a single extract from a single secondary source, while primary source material outright denies the presence of a radar, and other secondary source material says that the Falcon would only be able to accept a simple ranging radar, whilst the radar it is set to receive in-game is a full search radar.
Overall a very disappointing change for historical authenticity. I hope the proposal in this thread for an as-actually-existed Falcon (with no radar) is taken seriously.
But is it required to fit the Falcon with a radar? For the state of the game? The best would be to just leave it without a radar, and when the BR changes arrive it can be moved down (if the stats say so). That way the SPAAG BR gap would be reduced hopefully
Multiple people requested this via feedback and pushed to see it. We even explained we were conducting further investigation on the matter, to which people then claimed the devs “lied” because we mentioned plans for it previously. Despite it just outlining plans and not being a set in stone thing.
