If the F-106 has a BR 9.3, shouldn’t the Milan have the same?

The event F-106 sits at 9.3 in Air RB with just four rather mediocre missiles. For the Milan, the argument for 9.7 was its exceptional speed, but if the very fast F-106 is 9.3, why shouldn’t the Milan with only two AIM-9Bs be at the same BR?

Or should the F-106 be 9.7?

That works good for ground RB for which it can have a different battle rating. In Air RB it’s an easy target if it flies loaded with bombs to destroy bases. The Milan is the first plane everyone goes for, because when loaded with bombs it’s slower and has no countermeasures. Keep in mind that this plane faces, for example, the J-7D or (if lucky in MM) “only” Mig-21 SMT or J-35 FX. It also has the same BR as the Ayit with four very good missiles and a shitload of countermeasures.

F-106 should go to 9.7 to begin with, as Morvran said.

also Milan is all about ground attack, unlike F-106. They fulfill different missions. You dont call for B-17 to go down in BR so that it becomes competetive in A2A role, because its not what it should be used for.

isnt also ayit significantly slower?

Ayit is not slow for 9.7. I’d be careful with that statement, because this is only true when the Milan doesn’t turn.

And if the A-10 with AIM-9L is fine at 10.3, the argument about purpose and a BR drop for Milan isn’t relevant.

Milan is a bomber, and gets most of its rewards from bombing.
You can use it as a fighter for more rewards after a bombing run, but its primary reward mechanism is bombing.

Whereas the F-106A is exclusively a fighter-interceptor.

By all means compare F-106A to F-104A/C, Mig-21F-13, etc. Milan is a bad comparison though.

There is no bombing run for Milan, because with no countermeasures is easy target for fast planes like T-2.

Honestly feel like 9.7 will wreck the F-106A. With no CMs and 9.7 MM being absolute horse feces due to 10.7 MM being filled with Premium slop, it’ll just turn it into an F-104 with bigger wings. Before it moves to 9.7 it should either get a buff to its flight model, or a buff to its missiles, or get the capacity to carry two AIM-26 Super Falcons like it was tested with.

the A-10A early with 9Ls is at 10.3 only because people keep insisting that dedicated ground attackers need to be good in A2A role. Its definetively not “fine”, lmao.

doubt.

it looks like pretty standard mirage.

T-2 does not have all aspect missiles.
If you are being intercepted by T-2s or similar aircraft, adjust your tactics to where you’re nose on to them during or escaping your bombing runs.

There is more to bombing than zombing to a base. Path making for secure routes is a large part of bombing, and why jet bombers are at the BRs they are.

Unfortunately matches rarely go on long enough for bases to respawn at 9.7, so if you don’t “rush” a base, you lose out on the base points and are relegated to ground pounding or fighting other players.
This is even moreso now that the Yak-28B is at 9.0 and the Su-7s made their way to 9.0 which’ll make base bombing for even 8.3 jets an absolutely terrible experience.
This was my experience while grinding out the Canberras.

What premiums are spammed at 10.7? Closest thing i can think of are the A-10s and maybe the A-5Cs.

Also problem with full uptiers isnt unique to the F-106.

If you’re having issues with players not having skill to survive longer, learn survival tactics and share them with your friends that play, and have them share those tactics with their friends.

Also bombers are being overtly targeted because of the Battlepass challenge. The Battlepass warned you of the time frame to not play bombers unless you want to be targeted.

And one more thing - Milan is not primary bomber or ground attacker, its main role in game is fighter.

A-10s, Su-25ks, A-5Cs, J-7Ds, F-5C, J35XS, the new NF-5A are all that I have encountered while playing my British Hunter F.6 before the F-106A event, and almost constantly too. Not a fun at all experience in the Hunter F.6 and that thing can retain energy pretty well in a turn unlike the F-106A. I’ll agree to the F-106A going up in BR if they bring its performance up to historically correct stats and a better flight model. Which’ll never happen so once it goes to 9.7 I’ll just have a fancy new hangar queen because if I wanted to play an F-104 I would play one.

Not much I can do about teams at 9.3/9.7 not wanting to live long. I played the Canberra before the new Battlepass missions, and the experience, again, was awful. Especially in an uptier. I had like 10 matches out of 40 where I could double bomb a base. I play the Canberra with guns so I usually just dogfight in it. It’ll be even worse now that the supersonic bombers from Russia went down in BR.

lmao

sure, that must means F-15E is terrible in A2A role, right? since its classified as strike aircraft.

again, problem of full uptiers isnt unique to the F-106. Rarely vehicle is balanced around what it can see in uptier.

Or, if you want to insist that uptiers do need to be taken into account, you must logically take downtiers into account too.

What are downtiers at 9.7? I would take them into account if I got these mythical downtiers lmao

Great, we’re talking about apples and oranges. I’m not talking about what it’s good at, but what its primary role in the game is supposed to be.
