GUYS PLS STAY ON TOPIC!!!

this thread is about the SAV 20.12.48 and it’s ideal BR
4.7 or 5.0
I do agree that 3.7 is too low for such a tank, which can single-handedly stomp an entire lobby pretty easily, but I do not think with the limited penetration it gets, that 5.0 or higher will work
at 5.0 it will fight the VK, Panthers, IS tanks, Jumbos, and several others which it cannot harm easily. Seeing as the whole point of tank destroyers is to kill tanks, I see 4.3 or 4.7
If the SAV gets HEATFS, APDS, or it’s Sgr M/50Z get its proximity fuse, hell yea yeet this shit to 6.3
It’s got m18 mobility
A 1.2 sec reload
890g he (4.15x that of the tiger if not more)
94 pen.
Smoke launcher
It’s an extremely good tank.
Its cons are no armor, and can be machine gunned if in a bad position.
Just as a comparison, people think the KV-1E is a OP (some say) tank with 85mm pen, and 100g he.
And that sees panthers it cannot kill, among various other tanks. 9mm pen difference and over 8x the HE filler
If you give it all that, and also roll back the ancient nerfs to HEATFS and APDS which date back to when the IS-6 was new (to protect sales of that thing) I could see it easily being 6.7 or even 7.0.
The old forum thread which talked about the Sav m/48 (its correct name) listed it could get APCBC, HE-VT, APDS, and HEAT (same as the Ikv 103’s stock shell/Sav m/43 1946’s upgraded one). There is some argument that the Ikv 103’s HEATFS could also work.
And separately the Ikv 103 is apparently missing an APHE round too with about 122mm pen.
M18 mobility is a stretch, and all the other points are true. HOWEVER, the KV-1E is a freak of nature. It has over 110mm of armor on the front and 90 or more on the sides, which allows it to get away with having an F-32
Thumbs up to all of that. Why didn’t Gaijin port the threads from the old forum to the new one?
105mm armor sloped on the turret except the back and 105mm armor on the sides covering the crew. Its pen is a balance and its more than enough to deal with whatever you’re fighting.
It’s m18 mobility compared to everything else at its br.
Secondly. You can have all the armor you want, if the gun is weak, you’re doomed. (Personally I think the KV-1E should go back to 4.0, kv-7 was justified to go to 4.3, that thing is a true monster)
85mm cannot pen any panther, or several other vehicles. Also, you can side pen it with the m61 on various bits. So 105mm doesn’t make sense.
Why not test it then and show your results but given rooster has asked us to keep this on topic just DM with your results
I believe because KV-1s are a tough nut to crack for most SAV.20 players.
If I’m in a Sherman or KV-1, SAVs are free frags.
Panzer IV I need to be a bit more patient.
HE Round will kill it, but will it kill you first?
The non stabilized gun firing a low-pen round in a case mated mount never intrigued me as interesting or notably powerful.
I never bought it for both of those reasons.
I can count on one hand how many have fragged my M4A2 or a KV-1.
Panzer IVs are different cause weak turrets, and that’s true for T-34s as well, though Panzer IVs are my highest deaths to them… and it’s still not much.
Turretless is still not ideal, and that’s not even addressing the open air crew positioning.
Overall I think SAV is a good casemate at 3.7.
I’d just rather be in something more versatile, personally.
Well you be in whatever you want. It won’t stop you from eating my 120mm round, and destroying your tank.
At least for me, a KV-1 is a terrifying tank, because it can’t be penned easily and can smite a SAV with 150g of erosive stalinium. But I don’t think the point of the KV was to die easily.
the KV can be easily flanked and I’m half convinced that I could break the KV’s side armor with a melted candle, and the SAV has good mobility. Problemo solved
yeah, but you know.
90% of sav.20 sales are people that only went for the reload without much experience. So since the KV-1 comes as a “skill check” for SAV.20 players, it can keep it’s BR at 3.7 as it ends up as the KV-1 being a hard counter
That or any pilot with a pistol lmao. Planes eat them alive
Planes eat them alive because the amount of hatred a sav.20 builds over a battle.
same happens with all open tops or thin tops if you perform a little too well.
But if we balance the sav.20 around “it has no armor”, “poor pen” (89mils at 500m) and “its an open top” are just ignoring the fact that the sav.20 has a low profile, incredible mobility, APHE that can overpressure and just pen of a stock sherman or some other 3.3 tank, you tell me you can’t use the previous points to, I don’t know, flank? Even the side armor of a KV-1 is 75mils (granted its volumetric hell).
I’ve seen players (the dumbest type i’ve seen) stand a decent chance long range duels by just clicking the fire button after seeing their shell land and adjusting and getting 3-4 shots before their enemy could rangefind them.
Also being so low means the sav.20 is very stable, it doesn’t wobble much but thats more of a small upside.
i’d say 4.0 , since apparently some people say this thing doesn’t have a lineup?, when it 100% does even in 3.7 and 4.0, it even has the T18 as CAS at 4.0 so I don’t who are these people are smoking but ok. Sure, its like 90% TDs, but like, so is Germany at 4.0 and 4.3.
4.7 and its just has the Lvkv 42 as company, so its a no no.
I also said 4.3 because this thing is a lot better than those 4.0 swedish TDs.
Tho im not afraid to see it in 5.0 because they made my first steps into 2.7 - 3.3 hell (I reached them during their sale), the only tanks that would scare them would be the Is-1 and KV-85 since they will be hard to kill even if flanked, but both of them have cupolas, just shoot there.
