I think this is where we’re sort of talking past each other. The Tiger II can be great at defending a captured point. I’ve used it like that plenty of times during this event. It struggles to get the capture point if it’s in enemy hands (the breakthrough part) but what enables it to function up close is the fact that you have excellent reload and good targeting speed. So long as you have hard cover to hide your turret behind, you can hold 3 or 4 enemies from an objective easily if you know what you’re doing. That’s what I meant by “aggressive defence”. Tbh I very rarely use it as a sniper, because most maps just don’t allow it. And if I do end up in a sniping map, I take the Jagdtiger out first.
It’s perfectly usable, but I’m stating it isn’t the best for assaulting a position, which is what a heavy tank is for. The King Tiger is a great tank for me, but I rarely get nukes in it. The T26E5 and T26E1-1 get me a nuke nearly every game I play them.
Isn’t the T57 an autoloader on a Patton?
Only weak spot for E5 is its gun (in an uptier). But it does have a nice fire rate as you pointed out. I actually ran into one the other day that took out my turret crew, let me repair, and then got bullied by a Jagdpanzer IV. Some people just don’t know what they’re doing, lol.
AFAIK the T57 is the only unique US heavy left to add, similar to the T58 but uses the M103’s 120 mm.
Most all, aside from the T57, I would like to see Gaijin’s calculator fixed and US AP rounds fixed, which would massively help all tanks, especially M103 and T34 against angled armor. Give them historical 5 RPM and they’ll be much better but not overpowered.
You know, people here want more US Heavy Tanks and a lot of people also want the M26 to go back down to 6.3, why don’t we instead add the T26E3 at 6.3 and classify that as a heavy tank?
Two birds, one stone.
