The F-18, a plane that spaded and on clean wings manages to be barely as fast as a mig21f13, that compresses horribly past mach 0.9 and has one of the worst doppler radars in the entire game. When i eventually defended from SARH and ARH and the f-18 arrives to the melee as the last one standing? ah yes, forgot to say, it’s barely supersonic.
I think the f-18 should be moved to 12.7, where it’s flight performance and radar matches the most and limit it’s weapons to two aim7m and two aim9l, just like the f-20 tigershark. The usage of aim7p’s and their extra slow response time is unfun, the aim9m’s get flared easily if they don’t default to hitting the ground and suck in close combat (because it’s what the f-18 is limited to, it has no performance to go up with the big boys and defend itself from micas or even other puny amraams like a rafale or an f-15 does, it simply does not have the flight performance to put these ten amraams to use. You don’t have enough speed to be able to use anything else past 15km. Your radar ain’t good either, it’s so easy to defeat even without chaff, and the aim120s are so chaff hungry too.
As I said, 12.7 alongside the tigershark and share armament.
2x F-18s are already at 12.7 bar the F-18A which probably should have its BR increased to 12.7 to mitigate the compression its caused below and those at 14.0 with Aim-120s

But that’s an f-4d, and it’s not in the game.
Its probably stronger than the CAPTOR-M at the moment :D
how is it stronger? I need explaination, i get all my missiles spoofed,and, alike, i can spoof f-18s and their amraams too. Maybe the f18 is just TOO SLOW to make their missiles reach on time.
I would have to see replays to see what possible improvements you could make, but I seriously doubt the F-18 is as bad as you claim. Even if it was equal in performance to the F-4s radar, I’ve never had such issues.
As for AMRAAMs, there were likely being defeated in the terminal phase and so the F-18s radar is totally irrelevant for that phase.
CAPTOR-M is a total buggy mess right now that sometimes just… doesnt work.

It’s an F-4J. No IRST housing (most F-4Ds had that, as well as the F-4C and F-4B/N), and USN/USMC grey scheme and markings.

i forgot, that the irst chin was kept in f-4c and d, then turned into rwr or something else in late mods.
I understand that F/A-18C may have unimpressive flight characteristics due to overweighted payload
And might agree with it just for arguing’s sake…
But Ehhh… Does it fly even worse than either Tonka or SHAR?

then the real issue is how slow the aircraft is. Because i’m having similar “slowness” issues with the yak41, alas the r27er is still as “CCCP-6uac toBapiLLI” as always. Fun plane until you run out of CMs.
Yeah. It should also be mentioned, the F-4J has probably one of the oldest Pulse Doppler radars in-game, which is why it’s fairly limited. It entered service in 1966 I believe.
The F/A-18s have an early 80s digital radar, compared to the F-4J’s elderly vacuum tube AWG-10.

the lower BR f-18s are oppressive because of their missile count, thats why i said two aim7m and two aim9l and 12.7 instead of 12.3 because god forbid you get slow against these, they have better handling with AOA limiter than the mig29 without it.
Honestly, some jets should go higher BR with better missiles.
AV-8C can go 10.7 with AIM-9Ls because A model is better in current ARB meta.
A-7E can gets also gets AIM-9Ls but, idk what BR is best.
F-4S and F-4J(UK) can gets AIM-9Ls and stay at 12.0 or maybe 12.3.
FGR.2 can gets AIM-9Ls because current FGR.2 is identical with FG.1.
F/A-18C Early can gets AIM-9Ms and go 13.0 because F/A-18A shouldn’t be 12.3 but, shouldn’t have same BR with C model atm.
In the AV-8C, A-7E, F-4S cases, I posted RWR(AN/ALR-45F) upgrades bug report so, maybe they can be competitive even if they goes higher BR.

The F-20 is not artificially limited.
It seems OP wants to get 14.0 18C down to 12.7 via removing AIM-120 from it and artificially nerfing the loadout because he doesn’t want to use it on 14.0BR.
I am a bit worried about derailing if we discuss further about this, but as long as F-4S has AIM-7F and J(UK) doesn’t, I think they shouldn’t be the same BR.
1- AV-8A is not tech tree.
2- It’d have to be 11.0.
3- 12.3 for sure, and both are premium so no.
4- For 12.3 - 12.7 sure. [This implies decompression for the 12.7 slot.]
5- 13.3* stop compressing 13.0.
F-18A should be 12.7, it’s quite literally better than most 12.7s in the game and it’s at 12.3.
Well… I did somehow manage to make an F-18 crash in the Tornado F3 the other day, so I claim a maneuver kill, but yeah. Its probably entirely them used to something that plays either like the F-16 or F-18

Not sure they are good as 7F/Ms but, afaik Skyflash Supertemp is not copy and paste of original Skyflash anymore.
