I just got the XM803 and it seems to suck at spotting enemies. it feels like compared to the M60’s I just keep getting killed by invisible people right in front of me because they never get spotted. I am also having trouble figuring out what kind of playstyle or niche its supposed to fill, I basically cant tell how to play it correctly so I would like some advise on playing it.
Arcade Battles? Spotting in Arcade Battles are quite tricky, you need to have full vision on the target, different from Simulator and Realistic that the target may render on sight or in a general direction.
It’s not the vehicle, it’s you and the game mode itself, I suggest you trying something else, something as Simulator, it’s less chaotic and more rewarding.
Using the downtier/uptier system in Realistic Battles, as the XM-803 has composite RHA, you have high chances of bouncing and blocking shots,
What I mean is low caliber shells, early Kinetic rounds or few Chemical rounds may not do nothing to your armor, so you can attack confidently.
Considering the high mobility and fast reloading rate, XM-803 works pretty well as a Brawler kind vehicle and Rusher, use the mobility in your favor to surpass the bad ammo you got as option.
right, so ignore everything the Russian is saying, as the xm-803 has no composite armor at all. You also are not " brawling " in it. the XM-803 is best used to rush a point / flank. nothing else nothing more. Don’t expect anything out of the us tech tree since gaijin doesn’t care about the u.s tanks.
Spaced armor, so not quite composite but DEFINITELY better than basic RHA and even HHRA.
You can absolutely brawl in it… I wouldn’t recommend it in an uptier, but almost nothing around 8.0-8.3 can penetrate your turret.
wahhhhhhh
try to brawl in it, have fun getting lol penned.
By…?
It does.
Use your CITV/commander’s sight to sight over ridgelines before advancing. Should be the same button as your binoculars. You can scan from cover without exposing yourself. Pause, wait 20 seconds, monitor for movement. At least until you unlock thermals.
The XM803 has spaced armor that helps against chemical energy warheads, which is most HEAT rounds. Downside, most MBTs here start getting APFSDS sub-caliber sabot kinetic penetrators. So your spaced armor is lackluster at best.
Your gun is good with HEAT, but you need to get used to popping opponents from the side, and avoid ERA. Your acceleration is not the same as the MBT-70, which makes you a slug by comparison of its predecessor that’s foldered underneath it.
I strongly advise you to get MBT-70.
The XM803 is a intermediate design, at best, and it shows.
The 20mm is your saving grace. You can lead enemy planes by 6 or 8 plane lengths and zigzag rounds across their lane of travel to make them fly into the bullets. Closer ranges, less plane lengths. The 20mm also wipes the floor with open tops, with light skin 8-wheel tank destroyers, and will even penetrate the side of Leopards or other early main battle tanks.
Use it.
Once you unlock the sabot, the gun becomes point and click almost for anything underneath 500 meters.
Your awareness will matter most here. Keep your eyes peeled for far contacts using ATGMs, and watch your flanks.
Edit: In short, act as support by fire element, take up covered positions with overwatch on caps and other lanes of travel, and let your buddies eat some rounds for you.
by anyone with apfsds?
Don’t get uptiered
Xm803 is held by paper and spit. You dont brawl with it. You flank, mobility is the only saving grace on it so you use it, once you unoock lrf you can kind of snipe but you dont have very good rounds so eh.
everything at its br and lower.
