I have been struggling lately with this jet which is a shame because it’s my main form of grinding. Im not that good at dogfighting so it’s a wonder I’ve even made it as far as I have in game. I am trying to grind for the F-15 but the repeated uptiers and the fact that the entire enemy team is level 100s who have pretty much every nation complete is just bs. I need help.
These are the strategies which really helped myself improve, if you’re already following some of these it’s great:
- Learn to manoeuvre your plane while in freelook view (holding c), this mainly constitutes being able to pitch up/down and roll. It’s incredibly important to keep up situational awareness while fighting in general. You can see this being used all the time by all warthunder YouTubers. If you can look back at someone shooting you you can make it incredibly difficult to line up a shot and survive situations you shouldn’t.
- Learn the dangerous planes at your BR and their armament. Some of the most common dangerous ones are: Mig-23 (ML and MLD) and F-4E with their potent radar missiles. It’s good to know how to dodge these missiles and how to handle these planes when you encounter them.
- Learn to energy fight. The F-5C is not all that good on it’s face, but that’s disregarding it’s energy retention. While at medium-to-high speeds you can turn decently without losing much speed. Compare this to some delta-wing where it can turn faster than you but it also loses all speed in the process of doing that. Your winning strategy is flying around enemies while keeping your speed up and let them lose all their speed trying to turn with you. Do not just pitch up in a circle with your enemy, you’ll lose all speed and become an easy kill, make sure you’re fast.
