Wow, I can’t even tell you how much fun it is to play the giant circle maps in the ocean as a cruiser and fight battleships at 7.0. My firepower is so good I can damage all of their AA that they will then not be able to use against my torpedo from an ad-2 that will definitely sink them ;). This is the most fun and engaging game play I have ever had, thank you gaijin. To those who say that we need historical battles and real scenarios, you clearly have never played such a fun and engaging circle mode. And to those who think that battleships shouldnt face cruiser, you clearly need to l2p because I am having a blast
Exactly the same situation with 5.0-5.3 destroyers facing cruisers in long range maps (sometimes long enough where your shells despawn mid flight or your guns don’t even have the range to hit the enemies)
Depending on your ship, you can do quite a bit, but you’d have to tell me specifically which ships you are using, and I’d be happy to offer advIce.
Circle maps FUCKING SUCK and I leave every time I get in one
Idk what U mean, clearly all major naval battles were fought around clearly defined capture circles?
Idk about him but let’s assume any non battle- cruisers vs literally any bb
It would depend on the specific ship but, in general, actual maneuvering goes a long way toward not getting killed. I see most players just going in a straight line at a constant speed and expecting to not get killed.
I recommend constant turns and speed changes, which will make it very difficult for a BB to hit you. After a couple of misses, most of them will change targets as they have long reloads.
Depending on the available shells, there are things you can do, but I’d have to know which shells you have access to. Also, is this arcade or realistic?
Incorrect. In rb, most bbs eventually hit center mass, i.e. propulsion
I’m not saying it makes you invulnerable. I’m offering ways to make it easier to face battleships in cruisers. It’s hard to give more than generic information, which is why I asked what specific ships he was using.
I wouldn’t even bother trying to attack the BBs; even in BB-heavy battles there’s always at least a handful of enemy cruisers present that should be your priority targets.
I cannot stress just how often this happens.
People don’t get steering rudders exist and just sail forward.
Conversely, you also get people hammering boilers you’re clearly not repairing and you get a free cheeky kill or two because everyone for some reason wants to aim center mass instead of saturating a target. It’s baffling.
Oh I maneuver non stop, go backwards, go far away, use smoke etc. But literally 95% of my games the enemy team is 100% battleships and all I can do is ineffectively fire at some bot from 15km away while constantly turning. And 95% of games are the big circle. I enjoy the maps with islands as I can hide and farm bots but in the open circle it’s just over. And all the enemy battleships don’t want to shoot other battleships they always target me because I’m easy pray.
Which mode? What are your primary cruisers?
I’m just not having the same experience you are, so I want to see what the difference is.
rb baltimore class
That’s a tough one. The problem with an uptier in a Baltimore is primarily its reload speed. You can dodge incoming fire, but it doesn’t turn as well as some of its counterparts. If I were playing, I’d take the Helena, Roanoke, or Brooklyn over the Baltimore.
If you are primarily targeting battleships, the HE spam from those is quite annoying. You won’t kill anyone with it, but you’ll rack up good damage and set a LOT of fires even while dodging as you have so many guns with good firing angles and reloads. You also won’t bleed as much speed in the turns as the Baltimore.
