This wagon is a further development of an armored wagon that Guy produced before the war, and which was used in France in 1939-40. The Rootes Group was asked to create a new carriage and this resulted in the Humber Armored Car MKI which was produced from 1941. It was upgraded several times and in 1943 the MK IV entered service. some carriages still exist in private collections and in museums

In Norwegian use
These wagons probably came to Norway with the British forces in 1945. How many wagons this involved is not known, but the number was not large. The wagons were left behind when the British forces withdrew from Norway and were then put into use by the Norwegian Defense Forces. Here they were little used and it is possible that they were used as instructional material at Tandum. At least one of these wagons had a cameo role in the American film “Helter i Telemark” which was Hollywood’s version of the heavy water truck. The wagons were phased out at the beginning of the 1960s and today there are no known ones of this type left in Norway
