While I agree with the statement I think Spooks is winning in the hearts and minds department for not being a pretentious ass hole.
Nope - doesn’t change the basic facts that RE is unreliable.
Redeffect has form for parroting official Russian claims as fact without subjecting them to the same degree of scrutiny he applies to Western ones. The Ghost of the ‘JaVEliNs DoNt WoRk’ video says hi. He’s a useful idiot at best, a wilful misinformer at worst. He is only wheeled out by certain tech tree mains (cough - Russia - cough) as an almost last desperate gasp in an argument. It’s basically an admission of defeat by that point.
Gaijin have already shown their true colours with the whole missile debacle ‘well it LOOKs similar to an old Igla so the latest Western missile can’t be better!’
The core problem is that these assumptions appear to be positive for Russian additions to the game.
- The Yak-141 would have had weapons and systems developed for…if the geopolitical course of history had changed, if the airframe design actually worked, if Soviet fixed-wing aviation wasn’t so flaky, if the Soviet Union hadn’t imploded and if…whatever other logical jumps they need.
For Western stuff - the assumption is negative.
- Oh, we have no proof that the DESIGNATED ERA-DEFEATING dart rounds on Western vehicles actually work on heavy ERA. So it’s assumed they don’t. Same with Western NERA arrays - all of which appear to be victims of Gaijin underestimates rather than the generous over-estimates of K5 or Relikt.
What does this even mean it is late and I am incapable of basic reading comprehension
Trouble is that everyone is focused on whether it has DU in the hull armor as opposed to just a protection upgrade.
M1IP had a turret armor upgrade without any DU.
Yes, i understand that. But it has to go somewhere, it’s not like the space for this casettes are simply empty. There propably is half steel weight removed to put DU.
So if the plate weight is around 1000kg, and should remove 400kg in 1:1 ratio, then propably woll remove around 150 to 200 kg of steel.
Still we are in a range of weight increase between 600-1100kg which is clearly shown in the gaijin source.
Considering the primary document issue and the other suggestions of Spookston to improve the M1 in Gameplay Aspects - I’d suggest making the ERA removable - for a visual difference you could still keep the “skeleton” for ERA application in place like in this image here:

And adding the Throphy APS as a researchable Mod to it, improve the Turret rings and actually make the UFP of the tank bounce APDS again - or rather deform it would do a lot more. I suspect the Leclerc would benefit from that too and maybe even other vehicles.
That sounds more like an actually workable solution and one beneficial to the game.
Considering Spall liners… I’ll be honest. I am for their removal as well. They don’t benefit gameplay as much as they mess with it. But that is another story.
Someone didn’t scroll up
Someone doesnt know i am just reposting someone else’s meme.
Needs a /s tag then lol
The ERA is what make it differnt if they add this to all tanks their would just be at least 3 challenger 2 that would become all the same
Yeah, I was making the point that it might increase in weight even less than that and thus be even less noticeable by just weight. The fact that it has increased in weight just means that they probably added more armor than we think.
A pair of technicians at GDLS removed the side armor’s outer layer on an Abrams turret.
Two holes were punched into the DU matrix apparently, and when they inserted a probe to inspect the DU matrix it exploded and shot a jet of flame at one of the technicians.
It wouldn’t bother me so much if they’d just come out and say 'our standards are whatever we want it to be for our purposes, single, double, triple, or otherwise."
Yak-141 has wooden radar and therefore gets a real radar because it totally would have.
Abrams tanks has weight simulators to train for the new upgrades- cannot confirm new armor packages so they obviously didn’t happen.
This picture corroborates the Army weapon systems handbook 2013 which also showed a SEPV2 with the same lfp weight plate, as well as mentioning it has improved frontal and side protection.
Shouldn’t the fuel tanks offer some KE protection in game? It would make the Abrams fuel tanks area almost impenetrable if implemented correctly. Smallpdf.com
They should. Will Gaijin model that? No. They don’t model things based on reality. Just their feelings.
In my experience the fuel tanks will usually blackhole one round if you’re particularly lucky on the Abrams. After that I believe they count as destroyed and don’t contribute to the damage model.
They definitely modelled that on every T tank, definitely on Turms, BVM and T-90M. How many times I’ve seen my long dart being soaked up by these when in the other hand Abrams fuel tanks just produce more spall…
