How would artillery look like in warthunder?

if u wondered what artillery gameplay would look like well this is a post just for that i made an tech tree and gameplay for artillery but the problem is its low quality because its made in Microsoft paint



Are you advocating for player controlled artillery?

I’m absolutely against any implementation of any out of sight artillery gameplay, but I do have a thought about a class specific mechanic for artillery vehicles.
For example, let’s take M-44. So you’re playing it like normal, zooming and gluging, but, when a teammate calls for artillery strike, you’d be given horizontal degree (via compas) and distance. It would be calculated for a random point inside the artillery strike circle your teammate had put on the map. So basically you could send a random one just for the sake of it but only if you’ve been stationary at the moment artillery was called, because if you move - those calculations would become irrelevant. You can also give them in a form of a voice callout by the crew.

i could make that but for now its just a hit indicator circle and a map so basically your team mate team orders artillery strike at 5f and u just see one the map where it will hit and just fire

I would support. At least having some sort of guidance in the mini map, having the capability to simply ignore cover and shoot over it would be a very fun experience, not gonna lie.

I wished the game used standard .mil icons.

There is already artillery in the game.
You can already do the above with a little effort. Lots of YTs about it.
Adding a mechanic that relies upon teamwork with random other “teammates”… in War Thunder? Okay then.
The ranges in most maps is what’s called “direct fire”. Which, if they were accurately modeled would make most of the SPGs not fit the WT meta (ie: cartoonish). For example most can’t/don’t fire without lowering the rear spades.
That would not be fun. So they pretend to be oversized light tanks/TDs.
