Hi there,
I earned the RBU 6000 rockets, but now I want to use them.
No matter what I do, I can’t get a consisted aim at different distances.
Tried it in battle and test environment. I only manage to get consisted hits if the target is within 1km range and I can see where the rockets are going.
Despite their range being ‘up to’ 6km you’ll be lucky to hit anything past 4km, and most likely even with practice 2km is more likely.
They are anti-submarine mortars rather than true rockets although they do have contact fuses. As a result they follow a slow ballistic curve and it takes time to learn how to account for the relative movement and spread. If subs ever come to the game they will be terrible as they add another dimension to the calculation as well as even more guess work.
Irl they were fired by computer control, but Gaijin have made it fully manual and reduced it to fire and pray. So…practice, practice, practice…and don’t be expected if you still miss the majority.
Best place to learn how to use them is on small maps where you can ambush people at close range, you’ll surprise people a lot and those RBUs hurt, basically total destruction of weapons for your enemy when you hit.
Thanks guys.
So trying to hit anything above 2k is a no go.
It’s great for ambushes in maps like Fiji, but in the open maps it’s better to use the main gun.
Getting kills at short range is easy, however no half decent captain will approach an SKR in CQB, especially in restricted waters. I’ve done many kills out to 4km which is far more difficult.
Don’t use binoculars. They rounds launch high and slow. If zoomed too much, and many players are glued to max, you won’t know if you are aiming near until they splash down and you’ve emptied your launchers unable to adjust.
Might be wise to mention the vessel, while easy to use after a while of practising, yet certain vessels they’re harder to accurately use (surprisingly actually before anyone jumps on what I’m saying).
Which of these do you have (Lowest BR to Highest, including DDR vessel):
• Project 204
• Project 133.1
• Project 1331M
• Project 35
• Project 1124 Albatros
(Not listing AI units with them, but there’s three vessels)
The Project 204 & Project 1124 corvettes have some quirks to their aiming, meanwhile the Project 133.1/ Project 1331M corvettes are pretty easy to learn & the Project 35 get the most batteries of this rocket assisted depth charge & is also somewhat easy to use.
Your accurate kill range is sub 3000 metres with sub 1000 metres the no quarter range, but anything above 3000 metre out to 6000 metres must be lead with practice & patience.
