How am I supposed to use this? the radar is bad, as i cant really lock onto anything for some god forsaken reason, and my aim 9l’s roll the 8 ball whether to crash into the ground, kill a teammate, or actually hit the target. I see other people suceed, what am i doing wrong? I try to stay low and multipat as well.
‘‘I see other people suceed, what am i doing wrong? I try to stay low and multipat as well.’’
If killing 5 and dying 10 is considered success, then that’s it, but don’t expect to work miracles with it. The only 100% viable way is to surprise planes by using the surrounding terrain, or get lucky and find someone flying very high who hasn’t yet died from SPAAs.
Since most enemies are staying low i prioritize the gun. flare, quick burst, and pull away. Head-on 9L’s are unreliable, but if the top of the enemy is facing you, it will hit 90% of the time.
MiGs exiting a furball are usually low on, or out of countermesures, so going after those is a good choice too.
I usually like to go off to the side, wait for the enemy to engage my friendlies then come in somewhat on their side and behind them.
Save the radar for when someone goes up (like when dodging or when intitiating a bomb toss).
Your goal is to get like 2-3 kills to save up for 250 SP then start lobbing nukes using CCRP bomb toss.
For CCRP bomb tossing, the F4E is very, very nice.
Basically you do what the video teaches you with the following adjustments:
- Fly treetop high towards your desired target
- Once about 20 km out, make sure you’re at maximum speed.
- Pull up in a parabolic arc while making sure you don’t slow down too much while holding secondary weapon release. May flare/chaff if it feels proper.
- Launch the nuke automaticaly with CCRP.
- IMMEDIATELY using WASD break hard 90 degrees while dropping chaff
- Do a loop towards the ground while keeping 90 degrees (maneuver kinda looks like a “Pitchback”)
- At the bottom of the loop, turn towards your own airfield and dive
- Implement a few more 90 degree turns chaffing until launch warnings cease.
Works even against BUKs (and HAWKs in Mig-23 MLD). However, make sure your first few bomb tosses are relatively safe to get at least 250 SP built up to respawn.
Pitchback:
Upgrade to 500 sp nuke once you got 750 sp (but don’t J out to do it. Simply take riskier bombing runs).
Use this map to plan your attack runs when markers are missing (usually going over the sides and working your way to the middle is safer):
except im killing 1 and dying 15…
ill investigate this more, thanks!
I recommend going onto YouTube and looking up radar and/or missile guides at the very least. Honestly, it’s the most straightforward way of understanding what radars do what or how certain missile types perform vs others, what guided bombs are capable of, etc. Just about anyone’s video(s) work, but Tim’s Variety videos will probably be the easiest to understand.
As for specific aircraft, again just look up which one in particular you’re looking for and watch a few videos to get an idea of what it’s like. Hope this helps!
I honestly kinda suck with it too. But definitely stay low, don’t fire missiles in head ons and preflare when doing so. Look for people leaving dogfights, they will be slower and not constantly flaring. Try to fire your aim 9s from above or the side at least. The radar is ok if they aren’t near the ground or flaring, but for those reasons it’s pretty situational. So essentially the aim 7s are useless, just stick to the aim 9s. Other than that, just keep your head on a swivel and don’t just go diving into fights, wait for things to develop a little bit first before diving in.
I usually rush at tree top level. If any enemy decides to have some alt, i use aim7. If they are also at me level, use aim9 or gun. If they seem to be pre-flaring, i fire an aim9. For guns, fire a burst from around 1km out and roll out of the way.
how about dying 10 times, killing zero, and only managing one ground kill out of 24 radar missiles?
this event is the most hyper-specific player-hating stuff gaijin has probably ever done.
