Title, i always had this F-14 IRAF on my inventory but never used it. i play sim with top tier germany and some high tier russian event vehicles.
So today i tried this F-14 IRAF and the first thing i realised is, it is a full head-on jet? no PD scan, only TWS HDN, SRC PD HDN, etc.
How is the gameplay style on this jet? should i go high and top down attacks?
+Im stock so i only have AIM54s, i already tried em and god dayumn they suck, they are slower than me, had multiple clear chances to shoot down an enemy close range, fire my aim54 and i dont see it anywhere.
Being stock will suck.
With the other f14s i use the aim7s over the aim54. Best case would be finding space climbers and using the aim54 on them. For the ground huggers, your best bet is to climb to 7km+ then lob the aim54 to give it a better chance at beating multipath.
You will probably get more kills with your SARH over the aim54 though.
which radar mode do you use at hight alt? since it doesnt have normal TWS or PD.
I usually stick with the TWS Head-On because i like the soft lock. You really only want to fire at jets moving towards you anyway so the Head-On is fine.
If you lose lock after you fired, switch to ACM if you are close enough.
