So I recently unlocked the French SMB2 and it looks really cool, but it flies very differently from the jet I’ve played the most so far: the Ouragan. So I find myself struggling, and that’s why I’m looking for any kind of advice here.
How should I play overall?
How should I deal with 9.x supersonic missile slingers?
How should I deal with turnfighters?
My plane is neither of these, so I’d like to know what it is
One issue I’ve faced is, when I get closed to mach 1 I start compressing very badly and I barely turn (yes I’ve darted into mountains several times for this reason lol), but if go slower then a few turns will bleed all my speed down to 300kph and then I’m a sitting duck

It’s not a good plane. 9B are vastly inferior to 9E due to how fast 9Es are. I find it flying worse than the F-100.
I spaded my SMB2 by base bombing with the napalms. Nowadays you usually get air spawn of uptiered so the slow acceleration isnt that big of a issue

Yeah, the Super Mystère definitely has its quirks. It compresses badly near Mach 1 and bleeds speed fast in turns, so the trick is to treat it like an early energy fighter, not a jet that can brawl. Keep your passes clean, never stay low too long, and avoid over-controlling when you’re fast.
For grinding, napalm base bombing is the way to go early on, just like TIGER_TANK_1 said. It’ll pay for itself fast, and once you spade it, you’ll get a much better feel for how to handle its speed envelope.
It’s not top-tier by any means, but if you fly it smart and plan your dives, it can still hit hard.

If I recall right it’s pretty bad. Try and get the mirage 3c or f8efn if you can(destroyer of worlds in downtier)

Thanks, for the advice, that does confirm what I’ve noticed so far. Tbh the only thing I appreciate about this plane over the earlier ones is the defas which hit incredibly hard sometimes

Yeah that’s planned, I just need some good stuff at rank 6 before I can grind rank 7.

I’d say the mirage is somewhat better because you get can carry the radar missile alongside the two magics. If you fire the r530 at 8km altitude and coincidentally 8km distance with a little intentional downward lead 90% of the time it will kill a premium mig 21 player.
F8efn gets a lead indicator though as of a few months ago which is a big help alongside better guns and better overall flight performance though. Also the optimal loadout for the f8 is just the two magics.

By the way I just got my first good match with the SMB2, in a full uptier I managed to kill a F-4C and a F-105D (I got shot out of the sky afterwards because I still can’t dodge a missile properly lol)
Edit: yeah I got a few others good matches with kills, I’m starting to get how to play that thing, pretty decent plane tbh. Napalm brings a decent reward as well, that’s nice to speed up spading
