Hi everyone,
I’m trying to reduce War Thunder’s storage size on my Mac. I’ve read that it’s possible to delete unused nations and language files to save space, but I can’t clearly identify where these files are located in the game’s directory.
Could someone please tell me:
- Which files correspond to each nation (so I can keep only the ones I play, e.g. Sweden)?
- Which files correspond to the different languages (so I can keep only French)?
I want to make sure I don’t delete the wrong files and break my installation. Any help or official documentation would be really appreciated!
And if there are others methods I take them.
Thanks in advance.

That sounds really weird, i do not think that is possible. How would you see the opponents tanks if you delete them?
I don’t think you can have a smaller game than the minimum install size. If you have had the game installed for a long time you might be able to delete the cache and compiled shaders folders, they will need to be re-downloaded before the game can work again but might be slightly smaller than before but that is no guarantee.

Just on a logical line of thought: What do you think happens when you queue up for a match and face off against swedish players?

okay thanks and for the languages did it work?
You have to have all nations in the game, otherwise you couldn’t play the game.
The 3D models and textures are required because you need to face those vehicles.

Slight issue but i see where you are coming from
If you were to delete israeli tanks from your files, you wouldnt be able to see the israeli tanks shooting at you.
you can use smaller lower quality installations with gaijins own launcher tho.

The standard client should only include planes/tanks/helicopters. Naval is a garbage mode that practically no one plays, and its content unnecessarily takes up disk space. It should be as downloadable as textures ultra shit hd

Indeed, Naval is DOA and all assets are basically space wasters for the large chunk of the players.
Nontent files shouldn’t be forced upon everyone.
I wonder how much Naval takes up.
That is easily determined by checking the total volume of water displaced by all ships that exist in the game.

I’m pretty sure they mean removing the unused language and localization files for the client. Like the voice lines and text shown in game.
OP- These files take up only a fraction of the total diskspace taken up by the rest of the game binaries. And every time there is a game update or patch, the installer will reinstall the files again anyway.
You are better off just getting a bigger drive or moving other stuff to external media.
