I haven’t personally played it, but it is the same as you would play a Light Tank (based off what I seen you can benefit from playing it like the bulldog.) Stay out of sight and flank, or you could snipe if you get a good map for it just remember to shoot and scoot. A reminder this first Leopard is not the beast you think of when you think of the mighty Leopard tank, so don’t think your going to run into battle one shot everything and tank shots like a Mous in a down tier.
Please correct me if i’m spreading misinformation like I said before i’ve never played it but im going off what i’ve heard.
I don’t have any experience in it but I have plenty in the 1a5. You have 120mm dm23 with TVD and LRF at 9.3. I’d say use it as a Sniper.
It is the perfect flanker sniper. Stay on the sides of maps. Enjoy it, it can be really fun!
Society if every player was like op:
But to the topic I dont think much have changed for this tank so this videos should be relevant. You have great gun but no armor and decent mobility. With gun depression lrf and thermals you can do well on range but you can also play ot a bit more agressive, supporting your teammates from a 2nd line of attack. Remember to stay always in cover (behind small hills and such) and jump from cover to cover when it is safe in order to stay close to pushing teammates. Your gun should deal with majority of opponents ( use APFSDS) but if you have problems check their ammoracks placement and weakspots in hangar.
It’s still a Leo 1, so it’s armour is only good vs 50 cal’s, but it is much better armed - so hide and snipe.
Thank you for your advises. I ll rework my playstyle to better perform with it regarding what you said: Snipe, flank and support, don’t get hit.
I have also the Leopard C2A1. I imagine it requires the same strategy.
I played it a really long time ago but it should still be relevant;
avoid head on confrontations if at all possible! The armor on the Leopard 1 is absolutely awful and will not stand up to a 120mm APFSDS (or a smaller one for that matter). But, keep in mind that while it is extremely maneuverable and can get places extremely quickly the reload is somewhat slower compared to other NATO 120s (last I checked anyway). So imo you should always rangefind your shots and either go for a killing hit or a disabling hit. and also due to the mediocre reload you should not expect to either get in or win a fight with a 105mm tank like the M60 or regular Leopards, they will out-reload you.
But overall, its mostly like people here said. Flanking, sniping, etc. etc. This tank is pretty good and reasonably fun, and you can uptier it with no problems aside from losing armor, but hey that didn’t work anyway so what is there to lose?
Also, the Leopard C2A1 plays much the same but is (somewhat) able to brawl because it has the faster reload. But yeah they both play mostly the same, especially in uptiers.
Leopard A1A1 (L/44) is one of the best spots at the moment, fighting few 10.3 vehicles like T-72AV (Turms-T) or any other, mostly, former 10.0 vehicles,
One of the aspects of the Leopard is the mobility and this specific variant shares the same good mobility with a huge cannon, you should consider you have to trade the armor for it, so any IFV with over 30 mm APDS ammunition can penetrate you,
I usually plays the Leopard in a rusher position, you don’t have much time to think about enemie’s reaction because the vehicle barely have any armor, so just hold W, again, this is how I use,
And featuring such good cannon and decent ammunition values for the BR, you surely would find yourself in advantage position against almost anything you face.
In summary: use the mobility and the cannon in your favor and don’t rely on your armor.
You have good mobility, but not the best mobility, so you can’t just rush like wheeled vehicles. Personally I like to position myself at a point where I have an advantage over said wheeled vehicles to catch them by suprise when they come flying at 120km/h, holding a corner, at a hill you don’t expect etc. Once they are dealt with you can use your still good mobility to take the flank and basically mop up the entire enemy team. You don’t have the armour (although it can be trolly) to fight anyone head-on so you need to hit them from the flanks.
It’s important that you never stop moving once you’ve taken the flank either as ods are those pissy wheeled bois are about to spawn in an attacker and bomb you back to the stone age, so keep moving to make them unable to know where you are, and considering the attention span of WT players, they will go after someone else after 3 seconds of seeing that you’re not in the exact spot you killed them from.
Since Gaijin started his stupid crusade agaisnt long range combat is a well death tank. Most of the sniping spots and maps gone and is only playable in probably in 4 or 5 maps you can rarely see. The stupid compression dont help you because 9 of each 10 battles are full uptiers and even after the recent changes that rank in mostly unplayble for Germany.
Dont lose your time with that tank and play T-72 instead.
I do enjoyed the T-72A but that sight zoom is really crap, the Leopard 1 do have a much better zoom so making long range shot easy. 9.3 Germany these days I enjoy the M48 Super and kpz-70 more as it’s overall more well-rounded, the kpz also extremely quick like a light tank plus I can manipulate the bullet drop of HEAT to hit hull down targets lol with its lrf it’s literally a discount Vidar that lacks of OHKO power. If you play USSR might just skip the T-64A and T-72A and go straight to playing T-64B because due to the frequency of uptier to 10.3 you are mostly seeing the same enemies your 9.3 is seeing, hence the 3BM42 just give you extra firepower and better sight zoom as well. The T-64B mostly seeing 120sp in NA

What even worse, the T-72B currently at 10.3 still using the same shitty sight zoom similar as the first T-72s, I’m not going to imagine how to play them when you got the large variant of Tunisia or that rare India map or the one pinkish map that look like it has a 😺 on the east. At that range you can expect your crosshair lines thicker than their entire vehicle.
Feel free to discuss about the topic but please refrain from using profanities.
Noted.
Once again, I thank the people who took the time to give me tips about how to play this vehicule. It’s constructive for me.
To me the l44 is one of the worst premium i bought, if not the worst, I just can make it work…the khalid I had some fun in it and it doesnt even have thermals, the l44 is just rage inducing, slow sluggish, horrible armour, it’s pure garbage. Sure there are pros on youtube slapping everyone using the leopard 1 but every time I see leopards 1a5 or l44 in game they just die and leave with a couple of kills max or no kills, if they’d be good you would notice when you go against them, most of the time they are just free kills. this tank is just a backup for the t-72 in your 9-3 lineup, nothing else, and a crappy one too. It’s not even a fun vehicle to play it’s too slow to be a flanker it’s just and ambush/sniper tank, plain boring and bad. This is my opinion and others may not agree and will call out my massive skill issue, take it as you will honestly I don’t care, as i said, if this tank was good you’d notice when you go against it and i personally never noticed it, the 2a4 on the other hand…that’s a scary tank, the leopard 1? Absolutely not. End of story
