How to play the J29F in the current meta?

Hi so right now Im on the grind for the Finnish MiG21 Bis, and since I haven’t yet spaded the J29F I decided to do so, and jeez it sucks. At 9.0, like 70% of matches are full 10.0 uptiers, and this fat barrel can’t do anything against anything thats above average. Its slow, doesn’t turn, doesn’t climb and the guns feel worse than the GSh23. Aim 9B’s also dont really help since most planes I fight either have CM’s (harriers, Swiss 10.0 Hunters), are too fast for the 9B to catch up (F106, F104, SU-7) or just turn away and evade them. About the guns, I actually feel like they either dont hit anything despite their big spread or they deal no damage (and yes, Ive used every belt to check, and the guns felt weird using every one). So Im asking for any tips how to spade this plane

Personally I am skipping the Tunnans and instead researching up to J32B using the A21RB, and then use the J32B for the rest. Maybe the Hunter is ok.
If you insist on using the J29F, then the only advice I have is to focus on team play. I can’t really see it do much in 1v1s. It could bait fast pencils into a turn fight, and some planes have really bad energy retention so you could just hang around someone until they start falling out of the sky, while you keep on trucking.

Fly it in Arcade, where there’s much less of a performance issue! :)

Must be regional or selective memory because statshark tells the other way around and I also experience mostly downtiers at 9.0…
