I hate it (nation: germany, BR: 10.7, ground realistic battles, line up: leopard 2a4 (pnz battle), leopard a1a1, gepard, mig 21 lazur)
What I’m about to say will sound very obvious, but it’s all about learning how your opponents ‘think’ and map knowledge. You have to obviously know your and your opponent’s tanks weak spots and places where shells will bounce (many tanks in top tier have similar weak spots, and they’re not minuscule, like some tanks on lower tiers) you’ll probably face very similar tanks so it will not be as hard. Things like ‘angle your tank’ might be useful on lower tiers, but on top tier, I haven’t seen any advantages in doing so. Check the Protection Analysis on the tanks you face the most.
Here's one of the M1A1 Abrams as an example

And think before shooting. If you’ve been shot, but the shell either ricocheted or the hit didn’t affect your tank’s ability to shoot, be patient, aim your gun at the enemy’s weak spot and shoot, you can also shoot at the barrel if you aren’t confident on disabling the tank completely. You have to think that the enemy has to reload, so you’re safe for some seconds (unless you’re surrounded, as you’re better off running away or disabling both tanks if possible). Lastly, there’s always someone who will be better than you. Don’t give up because of that. Have fun.
I have to say that I’m bad at the game too. Much worse than you, if I’m allowed to say so. What I said is basically what I’ve been told and what I can see the other players doing. (I’m too lazy to actually learn such things).
