I feel like i constantly get slammed by every other player (im at 5.0 rn) and the only reason why i’ve progressed was from the av8 that i got for free for a day as test drive from the warbonds. The experience at low tier air is painful (for me at least) because I always fly for like 5-10 minutes just to get shot down. I’ve tried boom and zoom, but because my aim stinks or the enemy dodges, usually they always turn around, catch up and now i’ve got 3 people on my 6. I just want the F-16s, primarily to help my ground lineup at top tier, but idk the best method to grind. Any help is much appreciated.
I’m assuming your playing ARB. Maybe try AAB to practice planes since you can respawn and it’s usually much more fast paced
I’m not able to offer much else on advice though, maybe switch to a lower br plane if possible as long as it won’t suffer an RP penalty
Oh. I always thought AAB was a shithole because others said it was, at least for ground it’s hella fun to go absurdly fast
I personally really like AAB, I’ve grinded all the UK, Japanese and Israeli props there.
(Just don’t play a heavy bomber unless you are a certified masochist)
If he wants to stay in arcade sure, but if he wants to switch to realistic later (which I find infinitely better, but that’s my view) then he shouldn’t. When I switched from arcade to realistic I had to relearn everything basically because arcade is so much easier…
Overall I’d say the best way to get good is to just keep playing. It took me a lot of dying to get decent at the game, but now I have a lot more fun that I ever did in arcade.
I should note though, that I prefer ranks 5-6 by far compared to props. For this reason I sometimes grind props in arcade when I don’t feel like bothering, but that’s purely a grind logic.
The first time I tried Air RB some kind person told me to “firetruck” back to AB, and there’s plenty of bankers (maybe spelled with a “w”) in ARB - there’s no difference in the makeup of the population really - excerpt ARB players often have a broom up their arse and think their shirt doesn’t stink.
Lots of advantages in ARB - yes it’s fast, everything air spawns, multiple lives, reloads - it’s there in the name “Arcade”… as opposed to “realistic” which is a lie to drag you in…
Anyone who plays wt frequently stinks badly tbh… also if you ask me the main issues about arcade are the following:
- the balance feels worse imo, turn fighters are much stronger because speed bleed is so minimal that after you do a fast pass for example, they can just turn around and catch you even if you keep going straight…
- the impact of a single player on victory is often minimal, if your teammates are useless you’re doomed to lose. In arb however, you can actually win with skill
- the maps are so tiny in arcade, it makes things extremely chaotic and the amount of teammates that crash into each other is absurd. It’s basically like arb furballs but worse
And sorry but I have to add, arb players aren’t quite big brains but the average arcade teammate somehow manages to be worse
The biggest tip I can give in ARB is to be patient, it seems like nothing but with patience and target prioritization you win matches having more fun and exponentially more rewards
There are three simple answers: Practice. Practice. Practice.
Air arcade has one huge advantage over air RB: It actually lets you play an air compaign (more than actual air combat). In arcade, you can and will win games with every plane class. And nearly every plane can make the difference between win or loss.
I cashed several golden wagers in arcade, because you can very much help decide the game.
9.x of 10 realistic games are won on team destruction by fighters or planes used in fighter role.
With growing BR, arcade works less and less. At high BRs, it is more like comedy air.
What plane are u using? Also if ur aim suck, go to air ab for a couple games to get the hang of aiming and then move back to rb, that’s how I learnt to aim better
try it for yourself and make up your own mind. a lot of players like to trash arcade, but it’s really nobody else’s business what you find fun. Both modes have their pros and cons.
one plus for arcade is the lead indicator, after a while using it you can sort of imagine where it would be in ARB.
For air RB, I recommend checking out some youtube tutorials as well.
These are the building components of dogfighting. It’s best applied to air SB because there your controls and views line up with reality, but they still work in ARB if slightly less effectively (enemy having third person view and mouse aim makes things less of a sure fire.)
My personal take on top of the above is (SB perspective, but should apply to RB):
You’re probably not holding the trigger long enough. You want a full 1 second long burst to guarantee kills, not quick 0.3 second taps. This small change will burn your ammo faster, but also drastically reduce the amount of “why didnt that guy die. I hit him” scenarios and also “that guy flew between my bullets” scenarios as well.
After you understand these building blocks - they are building blocks, not the final solution to your problems - go and check out Defyn’s ARB specific tutorials:

ALSO TO BE ABSOLUTELY SURE…
Are you using mouse aim? Or are you using simplified, realistic or full real controls?
Because if you aren’t using mouse aim (say, you’re playing with a controller), you will be at a MASSIVE handicap compared to everyone else in all game modes except sim. With controller, your guns are effective around 100-500 meters/yards. With mouse aim, people can and will easily shoot small fighters from even a kilometer out.
When flying dont use just the mouse but at least the A&D keys for rolling.
When in turn combat begin to fire a little bit further the enemy enters in your aim circle - the shells need time to go there.
Don’t rush, wait the enemy being engaged.
Choose a fast and agile plane.
Fast, Agile, Firepower - pick any 2…
