How to play Early Jets

I just got the F84g and aren’t sure how to play it outside of textbook situations. Usually i open the game with a straight climb towards the enemy airfield at around 650 kph, but since im stock I can’t even climb at 10 degrees and usually get at least 1 person above me. It also doesn’t help that the F84 is in a pretty compressed bracket (A5 sabre, literally me but better, is only .3 above, and the La200 is same br) Im thinking of taking an extreme sideclimb so im at least with or maybe even behind all the non-airspawn planes in my team, cause you’re supposed to mess with the enemy while they climb in an f84, but I can’t really do that since im stock and will probably die to some other airspawn plane

aside from the early game I’m also not sure how to play aside from taking headons. Everyone tells me to just fly straight and run, but even if i do I won’t get a good shot aside from headons which is barely even playing the game

for example Ill take a headon with an f2h, pull of early, and then just fly straight and wait for him to break off since he would pull a 180 to catch me and bleed off energy

Should I revert to what I’d do in props and drag him into a vertical in that situation? Because my climb rate isn’t very good either so some opponents will be able to catch me there (mainly la200 and 15)

your first mistake is flying a thunderjet, go pick up a sabre or something. you’ll have alot of an easier time especially considering the situations you’ve described are issues native to the thunderstreak.

yeah, uh, dont do that ever in any plane lol.

I’m gonna talk from my experience since I had similar issues when I started early jets, and the F-84G was my second plane. Others might give you different advise, this is what worked for me.

First off, the climb. Unless you play very specific planes that are good at that, there might always be someone above it. Accept it. My solution is to not go to the center of the map, and rather to go around the place where the first clashes happen. Within the first minutes of merges, most people will have dropped from space. Only then should you go join the mess.

Second, your plane isn’t a good turnfighter, but it has some pretty good thrust. For such planes, the best is to keep your speed and zoom around doing clean strikes on planes that run in front of you. If you miss, don’t try to turn back on them unless they’re not very maneuverable like you.

Finally, you’ll figure out the rest yourself. Like everything, basic advise helps but it’s your own experience that makes you improve. Mess around and find out, until you know how to mess around to your advantage.

It’s not really a bad jet, but surely not an easy one to start with
