Players join clans or squadrons for many reasons. To find someone to play with, to help earn squadron vehicles or to enjoy squadron competitions.
To join a clan/squadron is easy although there are a couple of ways to do it.
#1. Look at the different chat rooms. Most of them are clans looking for members. A lot of them have open enrollment which means they will accept any player. You can join that room and question the creator of the room about the squadron and how to join it.
#2. Still, once in game, to to the upper left corner of the window, you’ll see 3 horizontal lines. Click on that and scroll down to Squadrons. This will open up the list of squadrons in War Thunder. Do a Squadron Search and check the Hide Closed and Hide without Auto-accept applications. This will show you a list of squadrons that will auto-accept new members. Highlight the squadron you would like to join and then click on Squadron Info in the lower right hand corner of that window. This will bring up all the information of that squadron and give you the rules for that squadron. If you want to join that squadron, then click the Apply for Membership button in the lower left hand window.
#3 There are a lot of squadrons which do not have open enrollment. You can still try to join that squadron by locating that squadron in the Squadrons listing and Apply for membership. Applying for membership in these squadrons does not guarantee you will be accepted into it.
#4. If you want, you can create your own squadron by going to Squadrons from the upper left of the window, then select the My Squadron tab then click the Create a Squadron button. This opens a window for you to select the squadron type (Squadron will cost 2,500GE to create a regular squadron or you can create a training squadron for 1,000,000 SL, create the squadron name, tag, motto, region, description and announcement.
Whatever you do, DO NOT file a complaint against the leader of that squadron or a member of that squadron you want to join. We see a lot of complaints filed because players want to join a certain squadron so they file a complaint and put “may i join?” or something like that. When you file a complaint against other players, they do NOT see the complaint so they won’t see you asking to join their squadron so doing that is a waste of time, both for you as well as for the Game Masters, who have to act upon those complaints, which get rejected.
