There’s no way to fix this without introducing fictional ammo layout.
I feel like people aren’t talking about the decrease in target acquisition in arcade enough. I’ve been biting my tongue since the update to see how it plays out, but it is getting absolutely ridiculous. It’s almost instant range-finding, which combined with the preservation of last-ship-range-finding-preserved has meant there is no real penalty for destroyers to start lobbing and shooting, with fantastic accuracy, at coastal ships from the start and from upwards of 10km out. I have personally been pinpoint hit and killed right out of spawn in that exact manner more times than I can count now.
As it stands, rangefinding has been nerfed to essentially a pointless mechanic- it is nearly instantaneous, constantly updates instantly, and can allow transition from target to target with minimal to no penalty. It’s part of the dumbing-down of NAB and it harmful to coastal players especially, as destroyers can now pinpoint and easily track and hit coastal vessels from multiple kilometers, at ranges that previously were considered at least somewhat safe from their gun fire. It’s also allowing players to immediately be under accurate fire from the first couple seconds, incapacitating their ships before they can even move away from spawn.
Bring back slower range finding, bring back less ACCURATE range finding, make players actually have to learn to adjust their fire, watch their shot fall, and adjust to the changing speeds and distance closing/widening between their ships and enemy ships. While we’re at it, not allowing AA guns on destroyers to open fire at 4, 5km out from a coastal ship would be nice too- there’s been times where the AA gunners just randomly are hosing down a coastal ship from that distance without rhyme nor reason. They SHOULD be able to fire, ofc, but maybe not from across the entire map?
I feel the same, especially vs coastial
