This thing is very hard to evade… Literally aboustly no chance. The pansir is still much easier, and this damn Anti air can still kill me while my plane is literally landed in the airfield. So How do I evade this thing? I tried multipathing. I tired Spamming flares. I tired to hide behind mountains. I tired Notching. The only way it so far work for me is to skyrocket to high attitude and do a Nose dive then the missle will hit it self to the ground. So How do I evade this thing?
Nothing works.
Lots and lots off GNSS bombs
How to use it?
pray
That what everyone say when Pansir lock on them and easily doge the missles…
Funnily enough that worked most of the time when we were testing that thing.
so did this.
Ye but you know how to evade it? it just keep chasing you… even on the airfield. Is the missle semi auto or what? I just see it fly straight up in the sky and does a sudden nosedive and kill you on the airfield…
IR terminal only kicks in at 9km all-aspect or 12km rear-aspect. until then, its IOG+DL guidance from the ground radar.
If the ground radar cant see you, it cant guide the missile to you.
@Morvran was able to multipath me succesfully several times, as well as utilize terrain against me. from other tests, it has relatively large deadzone against low flying aircraft.
My advice, either use standoff weapons from max range and hit the deck immidiately after (SLM cant properly intercept A2G munitions currently due to server tick rate); and or start at airfield and fly nap of the earth. As other people suggested, you can try to saturate its radar with unguided rockets or bombs.
Beside all of that, we can ask gaijin to move top tier airfields further back. As much as I love SLM, whacking planes on airfield is kinda silly (even if its giving them the taste of their own medicine spawncamping tank spawns).
Are you 100% about that? shouldnt the missile fly in iog till the seeker gets a lock once radar contact is broken?
Ive been hit by an irist missile without the radar seeing me before the missiles terminal stages. He only got a lock for a second and lobbed it my way, then immediately lost lock.
yes, you are correct that IOG will kick in, but its not like ARHs are any different in this regard, no?
i dont get you.
You said earlier that if the radar cant see you, then it cant guide a missile towards you, i was correcting this as iog exists and the missile can still hit you even as youve broken radar contact.
So only breaking radar contact isnt a full proof method, unless you hide behind terrain
I did mention IOG tho.
IOG does not need terrain to be defeated. Simply change direction (by ascending or descending slightly). IOG will follow your last know course, and if you dont continue flying it, its kinda useless. And this works exactly the same for ARHs.
How about it GNSS? that GPS guided right?
Well yeah but not once ive been able to make SLM witch to that mode.
How do you evade it if it ever switches on that mode?
Id guess not being at the coordinates it aims for.
One time I managed to land a nuke with a t80 while there were a couple IRIS up, relatively flat map aswell but flying a few meters above treetop level worked quite well
does it switch back to IR after getting close to the aircraft?
