This thing is overpowered to the point I don’t even play anything within or above it’s BR range anymore. If it’s still this way come next sale I won’t be buying any of the higher tier premium things I was thinking about either as there is no point-- it’s just that obnoxious.
More on topic, you can kill it from the front crew slot, or a few lucky angled shots on the chassis in very small places. However if the BMPT player is aware of this you can’t really do anything if you are an MBT-- you will fire one shot and die or be disabled too heavily before reload.
If you have a fast enough auto cannon you can disable it’s weapons and tracks if it’s VERY unaware and slow to react, and then pick it to death over the course of a couple minutes. However if they are able to aim their turret their firepower outclasses every other light tank in the game just about and you’ll die.
Many of those spots will not do significant enough damage to stop them from retaliation killing you with the exception of the front port one and the track area where it can chassis pen (sometimes).
The back, underplate, and sides never do anything meaningful like 90% of the time. The crew positions, lack of important modules, etc are why.
This would be fine if it were an MBT, but it’s not. You cannot shoot out it’s barrel, since all the other armaments can still fire fine, and if you do not kill it then it can just turn and kill you.
That’s because you shouldn’t aim for the crew in the first place, you aim for the ammo. If you look at the example pictures, every shot there hits the ammo and oneshots the bmpt. I play 11.3 with the otomatic and even that consistently oneshots bmpts as long as you aim for the ammo.
Also, you can shoot the ammo on top of the turret with heat and it will take out the ammo belt (that you hit) as well as spall enough to take the missiles and probably make one barrel red (not like it matters since the ammo burns down either way).
well. i found if they are not exposed just ignore them. play dead. if they dont see u they are not 2 dangerous XD. or teel them in all chat that u payng 5 ex wifes child support .mby they wil feel sad for u and spare ur life, idk. XD
It’s not about shooting the weakspot, it’s about understanding the layout of the tank, especially where the ammo is. And shooting the ammo is not something you have to think about, but rather get used to. It’s a skill that should come naturally and feel natural to do without having to think about it.
In general aiming for the ammo (if it’s not in a blowout panel***) has the highest chance of killing a tank; it’s a skill you ought to have if you want to play well. All russian/chinese mbt’s have ammo in the same place in the tank, you can quite literally play 9.3 and get used to aiming for the ammo, after which return to 11.3.
I’m telling you, it’s entirely possible to reliably oneshot bmpt’s even with a 57mm as long as you aim for the ammo. If you dont believe me, you can check my otomatic (which in itself is a god awful tank) k/d on statshark.
***you can still kill a tank if you shoot the ammo in a blowout panel as long as you destroy the blowout panel itself with the same shot (the red ‘wall’ in x-ray view)
Forget. Bmpt is the beginning of the end of this game and espically the top tier. Why else are so many gamers playing RUS/USSR in top tier ?? Just because of the crap tank.
The top tier (11,7+)is totally dead. For months now, I’ve been observing (a) player behavior and (b) forum posts here, on Steam, and regularly checking the bug reports.
BMPT is still an absolute joke!!! 11.7??? The 100mm APDS takes out a STRV122Plus right through the turret and is stronger than 150mm APFSDS!!! It doesn’t get any more ridiculous than that?!?!?
No wonder the game isn’t attracting any new players. The stats are stagnating, bug reports are ignored and all complains in fora are cancelled.
Going on the rocket does not explode, the side armor can stop 650mm dart and it is tougher totally insane.
Oh, and by the way: Why isn’t a single BMPT being used in the ESPORT event??? It’s simple: because then everyone would see for themselves that this tank is the beginning of the end.
What’s your experience with the BMPT? What are your best kills?
I went into Protection Analysis for almost half an hour, purely on the BMPT and BMPT-72. I was hoping to learn how to easily destroy the vehicle, as you would expect after studying it closely. Instead, I lost my remaining hope.
Unlike every other vehicle in War Thunder, the BMPT is completely impenetrable in the frontal arc. Every single fuel tank is “exterior”, the external ammunition exploding does nothing at all (unlike on other vehicles such as Namer) and even most of the ammunition stored inside the vehicle is “exterior”. There isn’t any turret ring, in its place is extensive composite armor which rotated with the turret. If you disable a gun, the other one can destroy you, if you disable both, the missiles can still destroy you, and either way, they can be repaired within a few seconds.
You can’t even kill it reliably by shooting the lower frontal plate. If you’re attacking from the side, you may think you could finally get a break, but no, hitting most of the side area results in no significant damage. The ERA completely blocks shots at random. Even from the rear, many shots simply bounce off! The horizontal and vertical drives are tiny; the turret basket is modeled as armor rather than part of it. Spall liners everywhere, making your shots require pinpoint accuracy.
You can’t use HE either, that is a lost cause. You can’t even destroy most of the weapons with HE strike on the turret, no, just one side or the other, and the vertical drive remains intact. Nor do ATGMs open up any opportunities. Funnily enough, the roof armor is exactly a few mm thicker than the overpressure penetration of top-tier chemical shells.
Even using massive anti-ground missiles weighing hundreds of kilograms, direct hits will occasionally do nothing at all.
The BMPT, along with the SM-SV Pantsir, made me realize the developers truly have a typical Slavic arrogance. Compare this Russian vehicles to the top tier vehicles of any other nations, such as China, and you will realize the extent of this absurdity. While the former is modelled with extreme care to strengthen each detail, the latter receives a shoddy implementation lacking basic features. When historical bugs are reported on the former, they are selectively invalidated if they are detrimental to the performance; when they are reported on the latter, they are ignored and NAB-at-will, with extreme prejudice against buffs. It is not surprising, but it is disgustingly abhorrent.
the best way to defeat BMPT is playing 1.0 BR below so that these abyssal creatures fight each other in their own hellscape while you have fun in a weasel or something
Forget the penetration analysis !!! It is also a joke !!!
The inaccuracy of it is searching for its own. The only think you get from there is to see where the crew sits.
In the analysis I am firing a 650mm Leo-Dart into a BVM. Straight kill. I tried it with differenz ankles and different spots … right into the ammo, the tank should straight explode !!!
In real battle … nothing !!! The joke-side ammo eats the dart completly. I have of examples where this behavior is coming.
I opened a bug ticket. No.1 was ignored totally. No.2 I got the answer.: Players fault . No matter how many screenshots and replies I provide !!!
