How real is this ship?

I was looking around for potential additions for the Italian navy when I found this blueprint for a ship called the Ansaldo UP-41. I read that it was proposed by Italy as an initial design for the Soviet Unions Soyuz class but am not sure if it ever made it past the blueprint stage.

Found this wiki with specifications and would love to know more!

Thank you in advance for any info you can share! :)

From what I heard, I’m pretty sure no construction started though I’m not the most knowledgeable on Italian naval ships

In the meanwhile, here’s an Italian castore class gunboat

Abandoned project after WW2 started i’m pretty sure. Then after the war the treatys kind of killed it entirely.

the Ansaldo (Ansaldo) was launched as the successor.

Oh it states that on that page too lol, Didn’t read the bottom part. I found a page regarding the Ansaldo designs but unsure if i can post it myself, But that is easily google-able.

Thanks for the input! It’s unfortunate that it was cancelled as it feels like Italy’s blue water fleet doesn’t hold its own against the big 3 so I was looking for something with a bit more punch.

Yep! A lot of cool designs unfortunatly got cancelled due to the war.

I hope Gaijin considers cancelled designs for smaller naval trees otherwise we might end up capped while others continue to expand.

I personally would not mind i mean the soyuz while laid down as it is in WT is more fake then real. Its stats are more tuned for WT gameplay rather then what it would of been which is why its going to be the best BB if it comes to live servers as is.

Its only fair these other nations get Iowa or Yamato and especially soyuz equivalents or similar in my opinion.

They might have to as Germany, Japan and UK all have partially built designs that can be added.

I’m unsure about the USA as the Montana was confirmed to be ineligible for addition and I’m not sure the French can get much either.

Not even more than those drawings. Project was proposed in 1936 at the earliest stage of Project 23 battleship development(when it was not only Project 23 that were undergoing in Soviet Navy), no accurate machinery or roc was even finished.

That time, even 406 mm gun itself was not in finalized design, as it is not clear to re-use old Imperial 406 mm gun design or make new one(later one chose ultimately, but not at the time of 1936). Another problem would be that the AA armaments were not as advanced, only composed of semi automatic 45 mm and Dshk.

Literally, Littorio class with historical and fair treatment would be better than Project UP.41 to compete against Iowa and Soyuz.

Since the Impero wasn’t completed was there any sort of plans for a different armament or something to make a more capable/different Roma.

I know Venetto and Littorio are different from Roma/Impero, smaller with slightly different armor.

AFAIK Impero doesn’t have difference with ingame Roma, as Roma sadly doesn’t have radar while called as 1943 version.

The difference between earlier two of Littorio class and later two is new bow, and installation of hydroacoustic(which removed in Roma at 1943) afaik.

Since it wasn’t finished I don’t know if there were any plans they could implement in game. Kind of like the Gneisenau
