How on earth did the F4F-4 Wildcat ever make it to 3.0 in Air RB?

Like I said, not the fastest, but fast enough. It’s not going to catch anyone in a climb or in a straight line, but no one at this BR range has the patience to just keep running from you. They’ll turn around and try to fight you. Only experienced players won’t

So just say: ‘‘it’s extremely slow, but people don’t exploit that massive weakness because the people you’re fighting are so new to the game, they don’t even know their keyboard can control their aircraft as well’’.

I figured everyone here was smart enough to know what I meant

I have a feeling you’re not grasping just how horrendously slow the F4F-4 truly is.
Let me put this into perspective, the P-51C is only 0.7 BR higher, and is 34% faster than it.

That’s the equivalent of the 3.0 Spitfire Mk1a facing a 6.3 P-51H-5 in terms of speed difference.

I do understand. A 109F-1 out ran me in a match before I posted that. But like you said and what I meant by the speed part, was that most players that BR range is going to realize they can just run from you forever. Most players are already in swirling dogfights by the time you join the battle if you have climbing enough, so you have the alt advantage which equals speed advantage, at least for a time. Straight line speed isn’t everything, most of its common sense and playing it smart

just destroyed FW200C flying in altitude, then a Typhoon mk1a (3.0 BR) in 2 bursts, and DB-7 with 1 burst

i see no problem for F4F-4 wildcat being 3.0, you just need a brain to fight people that have better aircrafts

you side-climb then you kill every aircraft being lower ,starting with the highest of those under you.

‘‘I can kill two crappy bombers and a Typhoon that didn’t know what he was doing, therefore the F4F-4 is fine at 3.0’’

I’m just going to leave this discussion here, because the arguments being put forth are getting worse and worse.

you’re playing the “they’re dumb” card,… while you don’t know how to use F4F-4 as told before:

That logic works using Gaijins balancing method of player performance, but when we use actual plane performance as a metric, you can say the same thing about any aircraft, regradless how good or bad it is.
I’m sure you can achive the same results of a F4F-4 in 2.3 or 3.0 IL-2.
Both are tanky, both are slow, both can turn quite hard before they run out of energy and both pack good firepower, even though the IL-2 has even more.

So compared to what the F4F-4 fights, it’s practically like using an IL-2 as a fighter.

You can also head-on people with 6 MG 151/20 in a Ju 87 D-5 and demolish a bunch of bombers in seconds, but that doesn’t make it a good plane.
