was F2P when i played 2018-2020 but when i started playing again in like may 2024 i started spending money on the game
During sale when it’s 20 bucks for 180 days, pretty good deal.
Tbh I would probably buy premium if devs actually tried their best to improve the game, which they clearly don’t. If they start fixing stuff instead of hammering new (unfinished) content into a broken game, then I’ll spend money into warthunder

Nowdays I’m mostly a f2p. But thats mainly because I am top tier at 8 of the 10 nations in Air and for ground I have 4 nations where I am very high up too and have no interest in grinding any further. I don’t play above 10.7-11.3 in ground, only in Germany and France do I have the 12.0 mbts.
Since ground takes ages to grind anything in higher tiers nowadays I just don’t anymore. I only play for fun.
For air, I buy 1 day premium account when something new comes up that I want to get. I haven’t spent any real money for quite a while, I sold the IRIAF F-14 and still have the Kfir c10 coupon which I will probably sell since I am top tier in Israel already.
I have a 10 or 11 yo account, and I have taken many long pauses because the gameplay is stale. I got the 180d premium at a discount multiple times. The only expensive premiums I bought were the XM1 pack and the A-5C, both at a discount.
I am a f2p player for a long while when I started playing, I even spaded USA air and ground tree without buying a single premium vehicle or premium time. It was pretty long, yes, because I had no premium vahicle/time to help and the game’s economy back then was horrendous to say the least. But I kept playing because I really enjoyed the game and played for the fun of it.
It is only recently that I bought premium vehicle/time to grind other TT that I want.
Does the $1.98 I spent for an extra crew slot for America count?
I was f2p for about a year, until the Harrier GR.1 was released and I proceeded to abuse the absolute hell out of that at 9.3/9.7 back in the day, proceeded to research all the way up to the Phantom FG.1 and grinded everything else with that.
Since then I usually buy one top tier premium in sales only, and just use that to grind tech trees, like the Mig-21Bis Lazur-M (damn good premium plane.)
