How is the type of NCTR decided (with what precision the radar can identify aircraft)?

Does it depend on the resolution of the radar?

Specifically, the ELTA EL/M-2032 has a 3000x3000 resolution ground mapping mode, would that be enough for it to have proper aircraft identification instead of object type identification?

your overthinking it

its pretty much if its an ESA it gets detailed, and if not it gets simple

unless the whiniest part of the community complains a bunch for it to get detailed NCTR

and its not like reports on it really go anywhere, because its been reported for a bunch of other M scan radars to get more detailed NCTR than they currently have

Doesn’t the EF2K get detailed NCTR despite being an M scan though?

yes

Nctr is mostly done via the returns from the intakes, stavilizers and wings.

It calculates the proportions of them and check what it matches in its database

Iirc it works like this

Yes but how is it decided what type of NCTR each radar gets in game

Prob the time when it was made
