How is Mig-21 Bison for base bombing?

Hello guys.

So I heard the pack sales are going up, and seeing that the Bison is on sale at the playstation store (I am a PC user), so I expect it to be on sale as well, as Mig-21 was not last time.

Of course this isn’t 100% accurate but in the case it is going on sale, I am gonna buy it; my goal is to buy at least one premium rank 7 (or tailsman) jet.

The UK has F-4UK and Mig-21 Bison as premiums; I know the F4 is a good bomber, but whatever goes on sale I will grab it first.

I have the J-7D, which does not have enough bombs to destroy a base, but otherwise acceptable as a bomber as it can damage about 70% of a base, which would be finished by teammates anyway.

So my questions is:

  1. How is the RWR?
  2. How many flares?
  3. What is the maximum payload of the plane?
  4. When carrying maximum payload, how fast is it compared to Tornados and Phantoms?
  5. What is the speed at sea level it can realistically sustain with afterburner and maximum payload?
  6. Does it has CCIP?

Thanks.

Mig 21 is an interceptor and the Bison is a Mig 21 hyper upgraded. Use it as a fighter and you’ll make more RP consistently while getting better at the PVP aspect of the game. Leave the bases for tornados and strike aircraft ideally, players love to focus them first so if you follow them or fly ahead of the attackers you can get some easy kills with the R73 and 27’s especially given the HMD. If you do just want to bomb bases, get the F4 Junk

Hello, yes, I know the Mig-21 Bison has decent missiles like R-73 IRCCM. But sometimes the hours are filled with pro elite players, or you just want to relax a bit, bombing is the way to play.

Depending on where you are at in the tree. Id just stick a Talisman on the GR1 or GR4 for grinding via base bombing.

(its a real shame we dont have a Tornado Gr1 premium or something similar like a Jaguar or Buc Premium)

Hello.

I don’t have much planes at the UK tree. Also I am not only going to use it to bomb. I also fight. Bombing is when I want to chill and relax.

Then get the F4 and bomb ig. I’d prefer the Bison and killing players, I promise you most players are far from Pro elite, and a little bit of practicing A2A you’ll improve and they won’t seem very amazing. It might also seem harder to deal with players when the fighter is weighed down with bombs and hard points causing more drag. Also due to everyone and their mother bombing bases, it won’t be nearly as consistent as getting at least 1 kill and going even.

It lacks napalm, so you can’t base bomb (thank god).

Never base bomb in something that sacrifices missiles in order to take A2G ordinance, especially in something that only has 4 hardpoints such as a Mig-21. By taking bombs, you lose out on your 2 R-27Rs, which are your only long range missile. You are hindering yourself and your team to base bomb in something like that.

There’s a reason why it’s called the F-4Junk.

  1. Decent
  2. 60
  3. 2 1000lb/500kg bombs
  4. Faster
  5. 1365 IAS, it’s rip speed, but it’ll top out at around 1350 depending on altitude and stuff.
  6. Yes.

I wish more of my teams understood that concept. Plus it’s frustrating when playing something that isn’t a fighter and getting beat to bases by a mig 21 / 23 with napalm who takes it out, and then you’re just sitting there waiting 5 minutes for them to respawn or killing howitzers while getting swarmed by the enemy fighters.

Purely looking at Premiums.

F4J is the better base bomber (can even take out 2x bases without loosing any AAMs, but does loose the gunpod) and still usable for A2A. Hopefully we might get it the buffs it needs, like dropping it to 11.7 eventually.

Mig-21 is the better dogfighter, but is basically a 1 trick pony with R-73s + HMD. (id not really recommend it for base bombing)

Other premiums to consider

Harrier GR1 is fun, but be warned, SRAAMs are woefully underperforming and you dont have any CMs at a bracket you will see all-aspects IRs most of the time. But when you get the hang of it, is a fun aircraft and can easily base bomb with both unguided bombs and napalm.

Sea-Vixen, over-BRed currently, but a really unique and fun playstyle, can bomb a little with 2x 1000lb.(or 4 when sacrificing 2x AAMs) but you also dont have a gun, which can be challenging for the BR. Especially with the Red Top issues.

Finally I know why J-7D will go to 10.7…
You have 4 PL-5B but you choose bombs even it can’t destroy a full base?

All this, and more, can be found in the aircraft’s stats card, the x-ray view and tried out in test flight…

Well Wiki listed it have napalm but you could only use it after create a custom loadout which you can’t do without buying it…

Contrary to regular tech tree vehicles you can test fly premiums with all weapons they have.

Strangely enough however, the Wiki lists Incendiaries, but in the game there is neither a weapons etup containing fire bombs, nor is there a modification that would indicatw incendiary bombs could be used.

For base bombing, I’d rather have the Phantom than the Bison. I see zero reaon why to take the Bison for base bombing, that’s not what it’s supposed to be.

For a example, the napalm of Chinese Tu-4 is unlocked by normal 250KG pylon. And don’t forget the Secret weapon of A-1H…
Anyway using a Fishbed for bombing is really unreasonable as it’s not designed for it.
I asked for this image from my friend

2x napalm is enough for 1 base. Both air RB and SB.

why would you buy a damn interceptor for base bombing? buy a premium jet bomber instead
